“A slice of Ireland in Manhattan!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014

This place is great, sandwiched between Ground zero and the river, this is a slice of Ireland in the big apple, Beautiful and relaxing place in the middle of all the go go go. you should take the few minutes to have a look at this place, you wont be disappointed.

“Irish Hunger memorial ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

We where exploring the area and wondered what the structure was . Not well promoted but worth a look if your are in the area . Historically significant and often forgotten was the suffering that many Irish people endured . Check it out if you are in the area .

“Neat and unexpected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

We were wandering along alongside the Hudson and saw this plain concrete structure cantilevered over its entry, and went in not expecting all that much. Once you are in, it's like you are in Ireland. Stunning and moving, and also amazing in conception.

“Hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

Beautiful memorial not far from the 9/11 Memorial; being of Irish ancestry, this was a very moving place. I especially enjoyed seeing the stones from all of the counties of Ireland.

“Totally worth the entrance fee”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

BTW, it's free to get in and there's parking on McMurray Street.

I found this memorial the day before we visited by searching for "hidden New York". It's on the same block as the freedom tower and parking was only a block away. (There's a bathroom in the ferry terminal, if you need.)

We approached the memorial from what feels like the back and walked up into the cottage while reading the many poignant quotes that decorate the walls. The plants are totally awesome (even in the winter), the house is neat and from the right angle you can get the feeling you're in Ireland and not at Battery Park.

We all agreed to return in spring (by taking the ferry from Jersey's Port Imperial) and spending more time in the area, as it's totally worth the time.
