I used to stay at the Millenium a lot a few years ago. It is right on the A-C-E lines and was easy to get around to the meetings I needed to do in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. The staff has always been helpful and cheerful and the hotel has always been clean and pleasant to stay in.
This trip the staff was not as cheerful, nor as helpful. This is aimed soley at a couple of the doormen who I had to open and hold the door for (they were not moving carts or had their hands full, they just stood waiting for me to get the door for them). Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay, as always. I knocked a star off the review because it is fairly difficult to get around the hotel with the construction, which will continue for a long time.
The best rooms in the place, for me, are the Junior Suites. I think the ones facing the city (uptown) are the best. If you get a high one, you get a better view. The view down to the WTC site is sobering, and the view uptown is exciting. I have had regular rooms, which are ok and even one bigger suite with a full living room, but I still prefer the Junior Suite the best.
if you are not running back and forth to midtown or beyond, the Millenium is a great choice.
