“I loved this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

In the Disneyland bar and food scene of NYC there sits Rudy's on 9th ave a screaming but friendly FU to all that is fake and phony.

I went to Rudy's about three nights and each time was fun. There are things about it that give it character from the huge plastic pig statue out front, to the large scruffy but cool bouncers, to the red taped booths, to the $3 Rudy's mystery beers, to the free hotdogs and the the backyard scene, Rudy's is a must go in NYC.

It is in Rudy's where you will get a cross section of New York---well dressed yuppies, punks, drunks, tourists (like me), regulars, people passing through the neighborhood. For example, in one hour period I spoke with a preppie drunk, then a couple from Utah, then a cool dude who worked for a metal fabricator company, along with conversations with the tenders and bouncers. By the way, don't ask where the Rudy's beer is brewed (if in fact it is really brewed) they won't tell you.

It's just an all around fun place to drink at. As long as there is Rudy's there is hope in the drinking world.

“Gets crowded!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Rudy's is close to Times Square, therefore it is quite easy to get there by subway.
The drinks are not expensive $6 for a Jack & Coke and you can get beer as cheep as $4 depending on your taste.
Bring your passport if you are a foreigner! Otherwise the doorkeeper might not let you in (he thought we were not of legal age to drink alcohol despite having a foreign ID).
The backyard is a good place to chat and chillout while the restaurant is better to party.
Ask for your hot dogs with every drink! Otherwise you might not get them.

“$10 pitchers and free hot dogs! Can it get any better?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

We went to Rudy's after seeing a show on Broadway. What a deal! We were lucky to have a friend in NY take us to this little gem. The booths are nice and cozy. The music made you feel alive and was just loud enough. The outdoor space looked great!
