We stayed at Hyatt Place for 9 nights from end May - early June.

Location : Perfect. 34St Herald Square Subway stop just round the corner, which is served by N,Q,R and B,D,F lines so it was very convenient to go to all the places we needed to go. We explored NY city on our own. Downloading the subway map onto our smartphone was the best thing we did. Macy's and JC Penney was just round the corner.

Room : The room was very clean, the bed was most comfortable, and we had no elevator issues at all. One thing to note was the shower water pressure - there is no control for the water pressure. You can only control the hot/cold temperature but the water pressure is fixed, which we found it to be a tad too low but it wasn't a major issue. There were only 2 of us, so the room size was just right for us. Besides, we only got back after dinner each day just to sleep.

Breakfast : The free breakfast was a major plus. We saved heaps by having breakfast in the hotel. And we really enjoyed the NY bagels. We got to the breakfast room early, around 8.30am and always managed to find a seat, but those who came around 9ish had problems finding seats. And no, we didn't get sick of the breakfast eventhough we had it for 9 straight mornings.

The hotel lends out adaptors, hair straighteners, curling irons etc for free. We requested for an adapter the first night we arrived, and were told they had loaned them all out. We left our names and checked with front office on 2 other occasions but the answer was always the same : they had loaned them all out. We were hoping to be given priority since we were staying for 9 nights. But even when we checked out, we never got to use the adapters.

We would stay here again.

Thank you for the feedback and for taking the time to share your experience on your recent visit to the Hyatt Place New York/Midtown-South. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay, your guestroom, the complimentary breakfast and the facility’s location. I am disappointed, however, that we were unable to get you power adapter during the course of your visit. We purchase and loan these adapters regularly but (as you can imagine) they are often not returned. We track them, etc., but it is difficult to keep them on hand. With that said, we should have them available regardless of these difficulties and I will work to address this concern immediately.

Thank you again for the feedback, and for your business. We hope to have the opportunity to be of service again in the future.

This new Manhattan hotel on 36th st. between Fifth and Sixth is modern comfortable, and centrally located. Rooms are of a good size. 42 inch TV, wifi are provided. A good buffet breakfast is included in the room charge. Staff is pleasant and helpful. The rack rate for a single room was $565 in June, so you are advised to look for discounts.

Our first stay in the garment district of New York City, and we were delighted by the location. It’s an easy walk from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, around the corner from Macy’s and other big retailers of Herald Square, near all subways, easy walk to theaters. Our room, #1807 had perfect crisp linens, good bed, a small but well-lit desk with wall outlets for electronics, small refrigerator. A large window gave great light to the room and opened just enough to get fresh air. With the windows open, the street traffic noise came in loud & clear—ok for us former New Yorkers, but almost perfectly blocked just by closing the windows. Air conditioning worked fine when windows were closed. Couch and leather hassock nice for reading, well-lit with wall sconces, same for bed. The small hanging closet had a full-length mirror inside, an ironing board and iron and a safe.

Our only issue was maneuvering around each other—the room looks spacious but has some tight corners. Making my way from the side of the bed nearest the wall to the couch area, for instance, I almost always caught my foot in the bedding at the “open” side of the bed. Be careful. Excellent Wi-fi. Shower in our room, no bathtub, super-clean.

Free breakfast was the most imaginative encountered—I had a spinach, tomato, egg, ham, cheese open-faced hot sandwich, strong starbucks coffee, fresh OJ . Fruit and pastry (tiny Danish, small donuts, muffins) were available along with usual cereals, etc. A surprisingly large breakfast area—we came down around 8:30 am on Friday morning, joined a short line for the buffet, easily found a table. However at 9:30 am the dining area was completely full. To make room, we took our second cup of coffee and newspaper into the lobby seating area, which was virtually empty.

This area was full of hotel chains—next door was a Holiday Express, around the corner a Marriott and a Hilton Garden Inn. The neighborhood is also known for Korean food—we cut through a parking garage to 35th Street in a downpour and had a good meal with cheerful service at Hanbat Restaurant, 53 W. 35th St. Loved the classy wood décor with low moveable partitions for flexible seating. Our Pajun pancake would have served six, the pork in a spicy sauce (don’t recall the name) was delicious. Immediately next door to the Hotel is a very clean & well-stocked kind of fresh-food deli, from which I had a take-out chopped salad the first night.

Since our three-day stay was on “points” I can’t speak to price—When I checked the online Hyatt and Priceline list prices, I found a weekend rate of $148—a terrific bargain—but this changed radically for weekday stays. We would definitely stay again if we could--staff was friendly and accommodating, lobby is comfortable with plenty of seating. If you feel like relaxing outside, there are nice metal tables and chairs outside the front door. There are exercise machines on the Lower Level--we didn't try them, but they looked in good shape. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Our high floor let in a lot of light, which was lovely. Good black-out and shade curtains were easy...

Thanks for the feedback, recommendation and very complete review! I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay, the hotel facilities and amenities and…most importantly…the staff.

As for breakfast, we offer the complimentary Hyatt Place a.m. Kitchen Skillet™ breakfast, featuring freshly prepared breakfast sandwiches, French toast, pancakes, steel cut oatmeal, etc., available daily in our Guest Kitchen. Breakfast is served from 6:30AM-9:30AM Monday through Friday, and 7:00AM-10:00AM on Saturday and Sunday. Like you said, we recommend that you plan on getting to the breakfast a little early as it is at its busiest just before its conclusion!

Thanks again for the feedback! We hope to have the opportunity to serve you again on your next visit to NYC!

A great location and excellent breakfast included.
Our only issue was that we poked this hotel because it said it could accommodate a family of 5 (2 adults & 3 children). However when we got there, we were given 2 rooms that weren't even together. So my husband and I had to separate and have the kids in with us! Not exactly a romantic New York holiday.. 3 doors apart!
Other than this and the fire alarms going off accidentally at 3am, I can highly recommend!

Thank you for the feedback and for taking the time to share your experience. While I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the facility, its location and the complimentary breakfast, I am disappointed to hear about the issue that you encountered regarding guestroom type. While not exactly sure of the details surrounding your specific situation, it sounds like we may have become over-committed on our Double bedded guestroom types (complete w/ a pull-out sofa) and attempted to accommodate your party by substituting two guestrooms instead of one with two beds. Regardless of the specifics, I offer my sincere apologies that we were not able to accommodate you as you had requested and reserved.

Please know that the experience you describe is certainly not typical of the high levels of service that we strive to provide to each of our guests. It is very important to us that that each of our guests leave our property satisfied with every aspect of their stay, and looking forward to their return.

Thank you again for your feedback. I hope that you will allow us another opportunity in the future to demonstrate the high level of service that our guests have come to expect from Hyatt Place.

Not enough good things to say about this hotel stay for a best friend weekend! Perfect location. Close enough to the hustle & bustle of midtown, but far enough to have some solace at the end of the day. Staff is INCREDIBLE. Honorable mentions are: Lizette & Amanda at the front desk. However, ALL front desk staff were ultra helpful! They answered all questions and made lots of recommendations for us! Air was not working in the room on the first night, reported it and it was back on by the end of the day when we got back. Plus, they kindly adjusted my bill for the inconvenience. Clean & spacious rooms for NYC. Loved the shower! Comp. breakfast was a bonus/pretty good quality, because after all, you are in NYC and it is nice to save on breakfast!

Stayed at this BRAND NEW Midtown hotel in May 2013. Greeted by great staff who genuinely wanted to ensure I had a nice stay. Room was surprisingly spacious with very comfortable beds and crisp linens. Breakfast was a treat. Lovely egg entrees, fresh fruit and fresh pastries. Coffee was hot and excellent.
Thomas at the front desk was fantastic.
Only negative was the extremely long line for the lift.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back have a great view of the Empire State Building.
