“Perfect location for exploring New York”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2014

We stayed at the hotel with another couple for the Easter weekend. We flew into Newark and took a taxi to the hotel which costed approx $100. The hotel is located just off Times Square and is perfect for getting to any of the main attractions. Our room was on the top floor and located at the back of the hotel which was perfect for a good nights sleep as it was very quiet. The room was spotlessly clean and an adequate size. An added bonus was the complimentary breakfast which we enjoyed. We booked a 2 day pass through attractions direct before flying out which cost £60 each. This was well worth the money and the open top bus tours were a great way to get around the city and find out about its history. We also went to see Rocky the Musical which was an amazing show. Our flight home was an evening flight and the hotel kindly stored our luggage for us after we checked out. All in all this is a great hotel that I would not hesitate to recommend.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 11th floor as it is the top floor and ensured a quiet nights sleep.

If you're looking for something close to the hustle and bustle of Times Square, but far enough away to get away from all the tourist traffic, then this is the hotel for you! It's just a couple of blocks from Times Square, but those couple of blocks make all the difference! It's a lovely little hotel. The rooms are clean and the bathrooms surprisingly spacious. The complimentary breakfast in the morning is AMAZING! That alone is worth the price of the room! We have stayed several times and won't stay anywhere else when we go to the City.

We enjoyed a five night stay at this hotel the week before Easter . The location is excellent for sight seeing , between 5th & 6th Ave , and just 2 blocks from centre of Times Square. Our room was located on the 11th floor overlooking the front of the hotel so the street noise was not too bad- however there were road works going on -which did seem to start @ 6.30 !! Our room was clean and good size for NYC! The tea and coffee facilities in the room were disappointing - as the only means to heat the water was in a filter coffee machine - water took ages to heat . However there were facilities in the main reception which were better & available 24 hrs. Breakfast was included in the price - it was self service and it was sufficient to get the day started! For the length of time spent in the hotel it meet our needs and would have no hesitation staying in hotel again!

Room Tip: Above 7th floor

We are 60-year-old self-funded retirees with lots of pleasure and business travel experience in many parts of the world. We have high, but not unreasonable expectation of hotels and, more importantly, we always try to match our expectations with what we believe we purchased. Our most important criteria for selecting a hotel are cleanliness and location. In this case, we booked and got a room with one queen size bed.

While our room was small and basic, it was cleaned properly everyday, the shower and bath are clean and there's plenty of towels.

The self-serve continental breakfast is basic: it uses paper plates, disposable cups and plastic cutlery, but it has a variety of each item including fresh apples and bananas. Overall, the breakfast is good value for the tariff. The hotel is popular, as a result breakfast is very busy and there's always competition for space in the breakfast cafeteria.

The hotel is very popular with families, so there are always lots of children and teenagers around. When we stayed, there was a contingent of out of town school kids staying in the hotel. There aren't many lifts and they're not very fast, so in busy times you have to wait, sometimes for longer than I consider reasonable. The Hotel's Wi-Fi network was very slow.

One positive point is its quirky little bar on level 2, and we enjoyed a few drinks there after a long hard day being a tourist. Being less than two (2) blocks from Time Square, the hotel's location is it's greatest asset.

If there's anything negative about the hotel, it's that management aren't focusing on maintenance. Here are some examples of that. The towel rack was hanging off the wall, the desk chair lift mechanism was broken and the door security latch was broken. There are other aspects of repair around the hotel that have been neglected. I believe a guest has the right to expect that, regardless of a hotel's star rating, management should maintain the property.

While this hotel is basic, it's clean and offers reasonable value as long as you know what you're paying for. I'm recommending this hotel to travellers on restricted budget, who want to be in the thick of things in NYC, but still need acceptable comfort levels This hotel suits younger travellers, families and anyone that wants great location. As long as you understand that you aren't buying top of the line in Manhattan, then this hotel and its location will suite you fine.

I would stay here again purely because of its location. This is most definitely a holidaymaker hotel; you will not see business people staying here unless their companies have very, very small travel budgets.

We enjoyed out 3 night stay at this hotel last week. Had a two double bedroom with no view. The room was surprisingly spacious and though we did not get a room with a view, we were able to get our room early in the morning so that was great. The breakfast was very good and though busy at times, we didn't wait long for food or table. The hotel was in a great location and easy to get to TImes Square, Broadway, Rockefeller, etc. We would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: All that you need and then some!

Myself and my fiance stayed here in April. We could not fault the hotel at all. Staff were very helpful, rooms very nice and cleaned regularly, breakfast was perfect to get you started for a busy day in NYC. We found the best little touch was the bar on the second floor. We found just fantastic after a hard day sightseeing and shopping to just head downstairs for a few quiet drinks and the bartender was very inviting. We cannot speak highly enough of this hotel and have already advised our friends to stay here
