“Not what we expected”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

After a very nice stay at the Fairfield Inn Queensboro, we expected that our last 2 nights in this Millennium would make our city trip complete. But it very disappointing.
The room itself was quite nice and large. The couch however was stained.
Only the reception staff was friendly. The ones in the breakfast 'salon' didn't bother to say a word.
Breakfast was absolutely nothing! I understand that in NYC breakfast is not the same as in Europe or Asia, but here it was a real disappointment. Not to mention that you have to sit on a couch to eat breakfast and so it is rather a salon than a restaurant.
The only advantage of this hotel is the location. But we would not spend money on this again as the subway is very easy to use in NYC.

We were unsure what to expect as sometimes the pictures of the rooms have been taken just after a refurbishment. We were delighted with our room which was spotless and had everything we required and more. Even down to an umbrella which we have never had in any other Hotel room. Might not sound that exciting but at least we were prepared for the rain!! Staff were superb and very friendly, they couldnt do enough for us and we even had a maid to turndown the bed and leave us chocolates!! We had a fantastic time and the location is perfect for accessing everything there is to see and do in this vibrant, colourful and exciting city.

Quiet room a block from Times Square. Comfortable bed and room. Monique was a great help to us in selecting restaurants and with site seeing times. Will stay here again. Cocktail hour before the theater. Continental breakfast. Both provided with room.

I visit NYC about once a year. This hotel has been my least favorite. The location is good... right off TimesSquare. The room itself was just "meh" It was incredibly small... the smallest I have seen in the city and I don't think I have ever seen a smaller shower. They did have a continental breakfast, which was ok. The doors had absolutely no seal on it... I could see the light in the hall around all four sides... which meant of course we heard everyone who came and went. I would not stay here again.

Stayed at the Premier hotel and had meetings at the Millennium Broadway. This is for rooms in floors 16-19.

Decent size rooms--smaller than Westin and about the same size or larger than the Grand Hyatt.
Mostly modern amenities but starting to show age, wear and tear.
Bed--comfortable and on the stiff side
Sheets--average to soft--did not stand out.
Pillows--good
Good size closets with safe. Fridge, coffee maker, and tea.
Biggest disappointment was the wear and tear in bathroom, water stains, yellowish and moldy looking caulking, uneven joints and cracks around bath tub and sink.
Final issue--if you get a room on the Times Square side you get about a gadzillion lumens into the room. While that would not be an issue if the blinds did their job the rooms only had one layer of drapes and those drapes did not roll easily on the tracks and did not cover the windows completely. So if you need a dark room to sleep you are not going to get it.

The location and rates might attract you including some of the reviews. For me there are better options out there.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms away from street

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

Spent 6 nights here to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Had a few niggles before we arrived (on line requests ignored etc) but as soon as Monique got involved, all was sorted! We are loyal Millennium travellers - always choosing the brand when visiting Boston and we stayed in the Millennium UN Plaza and Millennium Broadway in previous NYC visits. We were excited at the prospect of staying in the Premier this time.

Ok - first the good points. It is small - only 7 rooms on each floor so it really does have a boutique feel. The rooms - certainly our room - was larger than the NYC average with a comfy bed and decent bathroom - bath and separate shower. Monique was simply fantastic and , mindful that we were delayed by 3 hrs, had arranged for extra water and towels in our room. She had also organised welcome gifts to mark our anniversary - frsh roses, champagne on ice and a nice selection of chocolates. Well done Monique - these touches guarantee return visits.

Hving access to the premier lounge for free continental breakfast and evening wine receptions was a nice touch - though the lounge oftens stuggled to cope with the number of guests.

On the negative side, a premier hotel should pay a little more attention to detail - so the toiletries could be much better, the towels should be replaced, wallpaper should not be peeling off the walls and shower tidies should not be hanging off the wall. all areas of the rooms and bathrooms should be dusted and if the guest information says that ice is available on each floor, then it should be - in reality it's not available on any floor and you ring for ice. Not a big issue, but symptomatic of a lack of attention to detail.

The location is perfect for midtown - seconds form Times Square but in a quiet street. We were unwell during our stay so did not get to venture too far. Local restaurants that we enjoyed included Losteria, the Long Room and Virgils - all just opposite the hotel entrance. Had a fab steak dinner at Smith & Wollensky.

So, in summary, a decent, rather than Premier hotel. Monique is so good that I forgive some of the minor irritants. More attention to detail needed if this place is to retain its premier status - we would return for sure but get the feeling it's due a refurb any time soon - and with the right refurb, this could be a winner in the millennium portfolio.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

Overall my 3 night stay on business deserved the 4. A couple of reasons stopped me from giving a 5 - the lack of view, my room was at the back of the hotel and looked out over the back of other buildings. The plus side of that should have been quietness, however, there was a persistent droning noise from what sounded like a very large air conditioning exhaust unit which, of course, becomes more pronounced during the night. My room (420) was located right next to the elevators and I could hear them going up and down through the bathroom wall and the door wasn't soundproof enough to stop the sound of the chimes of arrival and departure. We tried the complimentary breakfast on the first morning only, but sometimes being free isn't reason enough to partake and this was one of those times. For the price of the rooms and being 'premier' you still have a level of expectation which wasn't fulfilled at all. The room is quite small and on our visit, very busy. With no staff in attendance huge pressure was being applied to everything, seating, food, dishes etc. Dirty dishes were either left on tables or overflowing in the 'kitchen' area of the room. Clean cutlery had run out, my colleague had to wash a knife to use, the bagels ran out and the tea was cold. Maybe some can relax and ignore things like people standing with food in their hands waiting for a seat to become vacant, clutter and unclean dishes but we can't and so didn't bother going again. Based on that experience, we didn't even try the happy hour. From the disappointments to the positives, because 4 stars is still a good rating. Times Square location is superb, the reception team are very friendly, helpful and fun, the rooms are indeed pristine, a good size (not large) with good amenities, separate bath & shower and my favourite (because all hotels should offer this as standard) is a pretty quick free WIFI service. I would stay again depending on comparative room rate. Such a premier location demands a high rate, but in our experience, they do vary by hotel.
