My boyfriend and I stayed at Buckingham from April 3-7 (4nts), and stayed in the Executive King Suite (w/850 sqft...which is superb for a New York hotel, or any other city for that matter). We got a seasonal rate for $279/nt and it was well worth it. We got a suite on the 8th floor which faced the Duane Reade on 57th St, and it was bright and spacious throughout. We had a nice little kitchenette w/silverware; a dining area w/table and chairs, and a large living room with an entertainment center including cd & dvd player next to a writing desk. The private bedroom couldn't have been better -- it had two closets, one of which housed the in-room safe, a large king-sized bed with extra sheet inside one of the closets. I was skeptical at first because of the other reviews I'd read before check in at the hotel and even brought my own sheets, but after arriving at the hotel all my fears were put to rest, the hotel was wonderful.
Few cons: If you're not used to street noise, come prepared -- it's New York City -- you're going to hear honking of car horns, emergency vehicle sirens, you name it... I used to live in NY and already knew what I was in store for. The bathroom was small but had enough space to manuever. We really only had trouble with one thing -- the heat. We visited on an unusually cold week in April (it snowed on the Wednesday), and the heater blew out cold air a few times.
The hotel staff was courteous and professional; knowledgeable of the area.
The location was great -- it's across the street from Carnegie Hall, about two blocks from Central Park, and within walking distance of Radio City Music Hall, Times Square and all the sparkly bright lights of the area. Not to mention the easy access to the subway.
All in all, we couldn't have asked for a better hotel, and would gladly stay there again.
