“Very Pretty Hotel but horrid A/C”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2014

The Quin is a lovely hotel in a great location. Service is superb. The staff to a person was fabulous- helpful kind but not cloying or snotty. They responded to every request quickly and kindly. We stayed in a lovely one bedroom suite . Not huge but then again this is NYC so one should not expect large spaces. We had a full bath and a great half bath. Modern simple soothing design. Two blocks to Central Park. The restaurant connected to the hotel- The Wayfarer- was very good. Only complaint, and unfortunately this is a major one- relates to the A/C, or lack thereof. This obviously was not a purpose built hotel...rather a conversion of an office building or older condo building. The heater/A/C units are large older boxes located in each room- one in the bedroom and one in the living area. They are NOISY! And unfortunately, they really do not work. The front desk sent an engineer up to our room to work on it and the units worked slightly better. But not well enough. We woke up repeatedly during the night either because we were so hot or because the noise of the A/C units. I regret having to mention this but if we experienced this in early May then I can only think how bad it will be in the depth of the summer heat/humidity. If The Quin can resolve this issue then they will have an excellent hotel. Small boutique, fabulous staff and location. It truly pains me to have to comment on the A/C but it interfered with our sleep and bottom line you rent a hotel room for sleep.

Sftcat, thank you for your lovely review. We are delighted to read you enjoyed our superb services, but please allow me to personally apologize for the discomfort caused by your air conditioner. I’m sorry that we were unable to effectively resolve this for you during your stay. We will be further inspecting this unit because of your notes, and if I may be of further assistance, please feel free to reach out to me directly at hbreuche@thequinhotel.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights. The room was spaceous, the bed was very comfortable. The shower was very very good. We got every day new shampoo "fresh" and towels. .
Yoy get every day water bottles and capsules for the Nesspresso machine. The staff was very nice and the service was outstanding.
The hotel is situated in prime location: a cross the street there is Duane read, sturbucks coffee, very good restaurants such as the antonio piza and manafuku. It is 2 minutes from the central park and 5 th ave.
We definitely come back to the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor since it is near a noisy street

Service was fantastic. After a morning jog in the park, the staff waited with a fresh towel and some water in the reception. A small detail that makes you feel special... The Wayfarer restaurant served excellent food. I had breakfast, lunch and dinner there. In the same day! + for outstanding Wifi reception throughout the hotel.

Room Tip: The Corner Premium suite was spacious and luxurious

I searched hotels in NYC and came across The Quin - the web-site was great showing the hotel and it lived up to my expectations - the service is superb - the rooms are nicely done - the bed is fabulous -- the bathroom is wonderful -- we also dined in their restaurant which was equally as great. I come to New York twice a year for business and have finally found a hotel I will return to -- I would safely say, this hotel is best in the city and I have stayed in a lot here -- including some of the well known 5 star hotels.

Being a new hotel, everything was up to date and upscale. You can tell a lot of thought was put into the selections at this hotel....kudos to the management staff....you know how to please! My pet peeve is rough hotel towels, but these were soft and fluffy. They definetely rate at the upper end of the hotel chain; the service and accomodations speak for themselves. We encountered rain the night we stayed and were immediately offered umbrellas as we exited the hotel. The food at the restaurant was amazing....each course unique and tasteful. You won't be disappointed by your choice to stay here. The location is convenient to subways, cabs or just walking.

The Quin is a great hotel; from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave, the service is excellent, yet not intrusive, the greetings are friendly, warm and courteous. There is a personal feel tot he hotel which emanates from all the staff. The management of the hotel have done a great job. The employees all seem very happy to be working there.

The room is not large, but extremely well appointed and comfortable. You get a boutique feel, a 10/10 location, clean and well decorated rooms, just a good place to stay. It made our weekend away even more enjoyable.

I am picky, but I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back

Visited the Quin hotel a few days ago. The hotel, formerly the Buckingham but now revamped. Sadly the revamp is only cosmetic because the service does not follow through. On checking in we had asked for a lower floor room (which we did get, floor 3) I hate lifts so I asked where the stairs were and was told "oh you can't use the stairs you have to use the lift! " in fact the stairs were not even sign posted in the lobby. I realised why when I eventually braced my self and took the lift to the third floor. Although the stairs are signposted on the room level they are only service stairs and go down to the service area. To enter the lobby you have to go through a door which states Lobby This Is Your Stage! I believe for safety and security reasons alone, the staircases in hotel should be optional for all guests and they should not be told when asked if there are stairs "no not really"! My second gripe is the Wayfarer restaurant where the staff are not very service friendly at all, they are slow not informed and need a really good shake up. If the staff are going to lie to guests they better all be consistent with their lie! We sat next to some guests from the UAE who particularly wanted fresh squeezed orange juice, the waiter said ok and brought a glass of 'fresh squeezed orange juice' the next morning the same guests asked a different waiter who said " no we don't do fresh squeezed orange juice" BUSTED! I thought New York City was a fast pace city where service was excellent and worthy of the tips ! Sadly not here. During our stay we were looking at hotels for 8 of us to come back and stay in September , when my husband found out that the Essex House a Marriott hotel was actually cheaper than the Quin and over looked Central Park we would've left the Quin that day. Sadly the Essex house was full! Lastly, the room was small, the air conditioning very noisy so I would avoid a visit in the height of summer as you cannot watch the morning news and have the air con on as well, and the windows need replacing so you don't hear the traffic all night with sirens and horns competing for attention. I had really high hopes for this revamped hotel but was sadly not impressed.
