“Terrible Choice of Hotel”

I was accosted on this property, once in the hallway and once on the elevator by angry tenants who said that I was staying in an illegal hotel. As it turns out, they were correct.

In short, the location is first class if you love Greenwich Village. It is smack in the middle of Bleeker Street.

We had a twin suite. The room is a good size but the sofa bed is the most uncomfortable bed i've EVER slept on.

That aside, i would recommend staying there.

We were really apprehensive about booking the place because it was so old and we feared it would be a dive. (Just not a cheap one.) We stayed in a one-bedroom on the second floor which had very small windows and was somewhat "cave-like," but the room and furnishings were clean. It didn't look like the bathroom or kitchen had been updated for quite some time but the overall convenience of the location outweighed all the negatives. (Just stay on a higher floor for better room lighting.) What really made the difference was the exceptional service. We had left behind our expensive camera on the kitchen counter and thought that we would never see it again. However, once our flight arrived home, I called and it had been turned in by Housekeeping. The office staff packaged it up and arranged to have it sent back to us. That was really appreciated! Seattle, WA

When we arrived my heart sank - the lobby area looks very dingy and dated.

But the the next morning things looked better.

Rooms are dated but perfectly functionable. We stayed in the penthouse loft on the 10th floor. Great views of the financial district. My Mum slept in the upstairs bedroom with a glazed roof (Beware if you're not an early riser - they don't have curtains so you'll get woken up by the sunshine) The kitchen area is small (perfect for cooking a snack, but don't expect to cater a dinner party) Beds were OK and they had two great leather sofas. Bathrooms were basic but functionable.

Staff were helpful (we asked for an extra duvet and it arrived within 5 mins) and they let us leave our bags in the office after we checked out.

Location is great. It's the quieter end of Bleecker St but just a few blocks from the heart of Greeenwich Village, Soho etc and just two blocks from subway.

Overall we were pleased. It's not a 5 star hotel - but was cheaper than booking two hotel rooms and ideal for two singles, or two couples. Decor had seen better days but it was also nice to relax in the evening rather than have to go out every night or stop holed up in hotel room.

the best part about the atruim is its amazing location. away from the tourists but right in the middle of all the bars/restaruants in the village. the room was large, everything worked, and the bed was comfortable. we had no problems with anything and i would definitely stay here again.

For all of it's faults I liked staying here. It was good to have a kitchen, a sofa, and the feeling of staying in your own Greenwich Village apartment.

However, most of the appliances didn't work, I had to buy lightbulbs and one of the elevators was never working the whole time...

If you are after a hotel experience forget it, but if you are staying more than a couple of nights, there is a sort of homeliness about it that I liked. Just don't expect room/maid services. I knew what to expect and wasn't really disappointed.

That being said I will stay elsewhere next time as the $250+ per night is way too high for what you get.

If the management read this, then my comment would be to lift your game or lower your prices.
