“Delicious Thai Food - perfect for those gluten free and vegetarians!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013

Small, casual and a bit crowd, but worth it. My daughter had the traditional pad thai with rice noodles and I had the gluten free, vegetable pad made with zucchini noodles. The sauce was so delicious on the zucchini noodles I needed a spoon! It was a bit pricier than average Thai food (About $26 for the two dishes), but the portions were very large. We brought home enough food for another meal. Great for a tasty, healthy meal.

“Excellent Thai food, Nice Atmosphere, Reasonable Prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

Tried Ngam for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have eaten at more that a dozen Thai restaurants and this is the best so far. The menu is varied and inventive and it has a nice atmosphere. The service was very friendly and prompt and while the prices are higher than some Thai restaurants, it is a good value for the food they serve up.

“Best Thai food in NYC, beautifully presented”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Best Thai food in NYC, expertly prepared and beautifully presented. I am so excited about this place. Everything we tried---Autumn Harvest Basket, Chaing Mai fries, papaya and apple salad, Tom Yum soup, Cutie Duckling, Calamari with squid-ink noodles--- was absolutely delicious and spot-on. I loved the fact that they made the papaya salad authentically, with plenty of fish sauce; too many restaurants cater to the blander "American" palate and compromise their taste. Cocktails were also inventive and refreshing. The service was quick, efficient and friendly: a great combination. What a great find!

“Love, Ngam, Love...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

Recently tried Ngam for the first time after hearing that it had recently been voted Best Thai in NYC in none other than the Village Voice. My high hopes were more than met. The restaurant has a rustic, homey feel in an unpretentious part of the East Village very convenient to Union Square. Host and Servers were very friendly and easy going, not at all stuffy as I explained that this was our first visit.

We had three of the sharing plates: Calamari, Spring Rolls, Yam Fries and all were excellent, especially the Fries which are cut super thin and have a very tasty almost Tempura like batter. Then the "Old Fashioned" Pad Thai with Shrimp was tremendous, really brought me back to some of the best I have tried in Bangkok. Dishes are fairly priced and good portions.

Finishing off the meal was a Thai Lychee Pannacotta and a Poached Pear, the former was more enjoyable than the latter which was still pretty good.

Don't forget to enjoy the Thai Iced Tea again reminiscent of previous Bangkok trips. All in all a very memorable meal all on a very strict budget. I'm sure this restaurant also caters to NYU students who's classes are just blocks away…

I will be back and hope to meet Chef Hong if I can. She has a real NYC gem on her hands and hope that they will continue to keep their high standards for good Thai food here.

“A real tast of modern Thai food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

This is a cantine like restaurant is actually the food is tasty good and fresh the service is young and pretty straight forward but still paying attention to your needs in a very down to earth way. The cocconut soup “Tom Kha” Soup w/ King Oyster Mushrooms– is really good .
Chiang Mai Fries – Kabocha pumpkin, sweet potato, homemade red curry mayo, sweet and sour peanut relish are not to missed they are at the very top of the menue , the Green Curry was also very nice “Ghang Kiaw Wan”
Homemade green curry, Thai basil, Thai finger long chili, eggplant. Choice of chicken, pork, beef. Add shrimp (+4), calamari (+4) you can choose for the most part what you want in your dish shrimp, chicken , beef or vegetarien .
They also serve very nice coctails with and with out alcohol .
“The Muay Thai” – fresh lemon & lime juice, soju
“Tom-Yum-Tini” – lemongrass, galangal, lime juice, chili, soju
“Below the Root” – muddled mint and ginger, ginger syrup, soju
“Thai Iced Tea” martini – Thai Iced Tea, condensed, soju
“Pattaya Colada” – pineapple, kra chai syrup, coconut milk, soju
“Snow White” – blended lychee, fresh mint, lime juice, soju
Enjoy !
