“Yummy cupcakes! Great atmosphere.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

My daughter and I visited after reading review on trip advisor, so glad we did. Very cute shop, friendly staff and outstanding cupcakes. Make sure you try the lemon merengue they are delicious. The cupcakes are not super sweet like some other places. We will definitely return again.

“Overpriced cupcake”

Very overpriced cupcake, 3.75 dollar for a cupcake. You must be joking. nothing special. I simply do not understand all the fuss over this place.

“Salty, buttery tasting cupcakes?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

During an anniversary trip to NY we decided to try out Molly's cupcakes based on their high ranking here on Trip Advisor...We ordered a half dozen of the regular sized cupcakes...6 different flavors so that we could have a nice variety. Red velvet, coconut macadamia nut, birthday cake/cake batter, cookies and cream, spiced chai, and butterscotch caramel. Here are brief reviews for each based on order of consumption:

* Spiced chai: tasted ok...light in flavor, moist not particularly sweet. Slight salty flavor but not intolerable. Hoped the rest would be better.

*Cookies and Cream: nothing really all that special, tasted like Ho-Ho...

*Butterscotch Caramel: THE WORST CUPCAKE I HAVE EVER TASTED. Extremely buttery and salty tasting, so much so that I wanted to spit it out but did not because I couldn't find a napkin. We have a theory that the someone had to have accidentally replaced salt w/ sugar that day. I was afraid to try the others after this debacle, but we pressed forward.

*Red Velvet: pretty decent, we were just thrilled that there was not awful surprise filling. However, we still felt there there was a slight salty/buttery quality. But not horrible.

*Birthday Cake: A very pleasant surprise! The only cupcake that we actually enjoyed! Tasted sweet, as a cupcake should...but not overly so. Cake batter filling will delight anyone who enjoys licking the spoon while baking. We should have ordered a dozen of those only!

*Coconut Macadamia Nut: First bite seemed ok..but upon biting into more filling we found ourselves back in the same salty, buttery situation as before! But fortunately we had a napkin to spit it out in this time.

All in all, Molly's Cupcakes was a huge disappointment. I think that there must have truly been something wrong with the recipes that day, because what we tasted could not possibly be what made this place so popular. Maybe we should have ordered plain cupcakes with no filling...or maybe we should only order birthday cake? Would we return to finally "get it right"...likely NOT.

“Tasty treats”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

These cupcakes are pretty delicious. I think they are better than magnolia bakery and baked by Melissa, mainly because they aren't as sickly sweet. The lemon one was fab - like lemon meringue on top, soft lemony cupcake sponge and then a red jam in the middle. A lovely surprise

Worth a vist if you are in the west village already.
