“very convenient!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

Just came back from 4day Thanksgiving getaway with my family!( including children ages 14,8,10).we had premium room on 4th fl.Room was much nicer and spacious than we expected.
It was really nice that we were able to find hotel that accomodates three children in the same room.very resonable price for holiday weekend and central location was perfect for us to go anywhere in the city.breakfast was a bit pricey but its in New York city so can't complain.
Only discomfort we had from the room was loud heater constanly blowing whole night that kept me up.overall, we had a nice stay and would definitely be back!

What an amzing hotel, love the whole vibe and the decor, etc. Little pricey for me but in terms of New York Standards, very reasonable!

Very friendly staff, great concierge service, clean, spacious and close to all the attractions - you really can't ask for better in New York. No complaints... If I ever found myself in New York again will definitely stay here!

Clean, comfortable rooms, excellent location and welcoming staff. Had drinks at the bar which was a pleasant way to end an evening. Got a very reasonable rate for the end of October.

Don't know what people mean about the seedy street--it is no different than most other streets in midtown--except that the police station is a few doors down. This had no impact on us except to note that that policemen are getting younger and younger every day. We felt perfectly safe and would have no concerns returning late in the evening.

The location of this hotel is somewhat great, but if you like sleep ask for a high floor as there is a large police station right next door, and they like to try their sirens during the night!

I would say out of all the hotels around the world this has got to be one of the rudest staff overall i have encountered!

They offer hot chocolate on really cold nights in the lobby, it had run out. i asked at reception if they were refilling as she said NO, its been too busy and we have run out. another staff overheard and went onto make me a cup.

same the following evening, so i paid $4.00 USD to save the trouble of going over the same thing again.

Asked the concierge where the closest laundrette was to the hotel. He sent us to a really seedy part of NY, and on return tool a different street to find that there was one, just a 30 second walk from the hotel.

Everything you needed in this hotel and you asked for they made it feel like you were hassling them.

We gave a small carton for a UPS pickup and they didnt call me to say it had not been collected, and only that i was walking past that i saw on day 2 it was still there.

Upon checkout this morning, we checked out at 5 am, for an early flight to London.
Mr Happy on reception handed me the final bill, and not one nice thing was said in the 2 minutes it took to check out. Not once did he even offer a fake smile......Nothing!
I asked if we could get a taxi from the hotel to JFK, and he then went on to tell me to walk a block to get a taxi at 5am!

Nice one!
Will never stay there again, and expect you look elsewhere when you can!

Room Tip: avoid rooms on the lower floors!

TRYP is a rarity in the heart of New York City - a modern hotel, new construction, with decent sized rooms and bathrooms. My friend and I stayed for 2 nights on a "Girls Getaway Weekend" and enjoyed our visit to the hotel very much. Check-in was smooth. The room was modern with a hardwood floor and the bathroom had modern, European style fixtures. The bed was super-comfortable. The location of the hotel is good for tourists who are planning to go to Times Square and theaters on Broadway - these are only a short walk away - and the subway is very nearby. The street is a bit dark and quiet at night and I would not recommend walking it alone. We did not eat at the hotel, but had a drink on the rooftop one evening. I recommend the rooftop for its great view and it was a nice place to relax before the theater. Check out was problematic because we had to wait in line quite a while and owing to a glitch in the computer system we were both double-charged for the room. The problem was resolved with the credit card company a couple of weeks after our return home. There was no formal apology from the hotel. If not for this problem, I would have awarded the hotel 5 stars.

We really appreciate your very nice review and comments about our hotel! It sounds like you had a very nice time, and got to enjoy all that our hotel and New York City had to offer. However, we apologize for inconvenience you experience with the wait time at check-out and the issues with your credit card. This is not a normal situation we have at our hotel. Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the near future.

We stayed for 4 nights at TRYP over thanksgiving. Location is great, breakfast is good - but even if breakfast is not included in your rate there is a Starbucks and an IGK just around the corner on 8th av. Subway, train station, times square, empire state building, all is so very close, this truly is a great location.
We had a premium 2 queen beds city view room - a very large corner room with an almost-separate bedroom (space above the door was open) 2 bathrooms, a pull-out sofa, Keurig coffee machine, refrigerator, wet bar, rain shower type showers, double vanity in the larger bathroom. Big! The 'sitting' room (where the pull-out sofa was) did lack a bit of atmosphere, it could use a lazy chair and a reading light.
We had an issue when we checked out - our upgrade to premium turned out to be much more expensive than we anticipated! Please make sure you have your printed confimation available... Our disagreement however was handled in a very professional manner and we walked out being happy TRYP customers!!

Room Tip: The premium 2-queen room was really BIG!!!!

Very well located, a few steps from Penn Station (subway) in Midtown. Hotel is super modern, trendy looking, with comfortable and spacious rooms and recently renovated showers. A very big thank you to Chanel at the front desk who was extremely polite, helpful and friendly. I had a few packages delivered to the hotel before my arrival and they held on to them with no extra charge. My only suggestion would be to include breakfast in the hotel fare when booking a room. All in all, an excellent hotel, would most def stay here again.
