“Accommodating, friendly staff and great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

This hotel is very clean, well maintained and has a friendly staff. I would highly recommend others to stay at this hotel. It's in a great location safe location (police station next door). The food from room service was excellent.

The room was small, but quite functional. The location was great (especially if you need access to the Javitz center). The customer service was exceptional! I will definitely stay in this hotel on my next trip for business in New York City

This boutique style hotel offers spacious, clean modern rooms for a reasonable price in a central and convenient location. We booked two rooms for six nights and found everything we needed was easy to find. There is a laundry just up the road and a sports bar serving tasty food on the opposite corner if you need a quick refuel after a long day of sightseeing. Buy a week subway pass, it's great value. It's easy to get to all the major sights including Times Square, Empire State Building, Central Park (hire bikes), Wall Street and Brooklyn Bridge and if you are staying for three or more days buy a City Pass to get an overall reduced price and faster entry to some of the best attractions and museums, highly recommended!

Room Tip: Please be aware that there is an NYPD right next door, so if you happen to be in a street side room...

I recently stayed for 7 nights at the TRYP Times Square Hotel in a 2 double bed room (I was traveling with 2 other people).
The hotel is new and very nicely decorated. The room we had was located on the 10th floor and was very comfortable and quiet. The room is appointed with a coffee machine which was very much appreciated. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathroom was very nice and modern. We appreciated the fact that shower gel and shampoo were available in generous quantity (not the usual small bottles). The atmosphere of the room was very nice too. The only negative point of the room was the noise of the AC. The noise was so loud that is was impossible to sleep with the AC on and it was very bothering to have it on while in the room.
Housekeeping did a good job and always kept the room very clean. They once forgot to replenish the toilet paper, which can be annoying, but when asked for it they rushed some to our room. (It's a bit of a shame that we had to ask for something that basic).
We were in New York to celebrate my girlfriend birthday. I had informed the hotel about it at the time of booking and we were pleasantly surprised to find a nice amenity on the bed with a hand-written card wishing her a happy birthday. The card was not directly addressed to her nor was it delivered on the day of her birthday, so it was a bit lacking of personalization, but the gesture was really much appreciated in spite of this.
We had breakfast one morning and were really happy with it. They had a nice selection of breads, pastries, fruits, cold cuts as well as eggs, bacon etc.
The front desk staff was generally pleasant. They left us a voicemail message on the day prior to our departure to enquire about our stay and offer assistance, which was a nice touch. Here again the message lacked of personalization, something that could be improved in the future.
The concierge was helpful and recommended a really nice night cruise around Manhattan.
The location of the hotel was not too far from bustling Times Square (about 10-15 min walk) and 5 min to the metro station (Penn station).
Finally wifi internet is provided free of charge which is a plus!
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in New York and looking for a modern and centrally located hotel. Will consider this hotel on my next visit to NYC.

checked into the hotel as a guest and the room was paid for by a company i was interviewing wih. they hotel sasked for a credit card to cover any incidentals I get home after a one night stay to find not only did the hotel charge the 50 but also the rate of the room. When i called to ask why i had this 273 dollar charge I was told if u check in with a depit l your room charge too. \
I have never heard of this practice and was never told of this practice when i checked in be careful when using a credit/debit card. They double charge and I am still fighting to get it off my card. This hotel is the sterotypic image of a neew yorker Rude and dishonest will never stay or deal with this hotel again

Room Tip: avoid this place

We stayed at the TRYP Times Square Hotel from 8/9-18/9 2012, 11 days. We booked two rooms, one for two people staying in a Double Room with King Size bed and the second room for one person living in a Double Room with a Queen Size bed. We booked the room already in April through the hotel's own website and got a great deal, We recieved a so called Opening rates since the hotel was newly opened, we even got a extra 20% off the already discounted price because we stayed there more then 7 days.

The hotel is clean, modern and very nice in every possible way. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Every day when we came back they had cleaned the rooms except for one day when they came a little later, this was no problem from our side. Our friend who lived in the room nextdoor did forget to take of the hasp from the door and passed out through the sliding doors to our room and unfortatly locked himself out then the maid was very friendly and helped us to call the engineer who unlocked the door while we were out on the town. We also used the concierge service as he helped us book a table at a restaurant. We also used the room service once where he came up with a bucket of ice to us.

We stayed in room 1209 and our friend switched from the 11th floor to room 1208 the day after arrival. he found on the first night that the neighbor next door had a little too high noise on the TV though.

The rooms were perfect in size, nothing to complain about and I am surprised that i have nothing to complain about the rooms at all, sure there was a little noise from the AC and there was a little noise from the streets as i have read that people have complained a bit before but remember you are visiting New York wich is a city with a lot of noise so what do you expect ?. If you are not very very very picky, this is not something you will have to worry about.

My girlfriend is that kind of person which can't sleep without it being completly silent and pitch dark and she had no problem sleeping. If you are just an ordinary Scandinavian or European you will love this hotel.

Gastro bar was very nice. It had the best breakfast during the entire trip, unfortunately it costs $ 20 which we thought was a bit too expensive to spend every day at breakfast so we ate there only twice. It contained everything I could imagine and it was very good too, I liked the variety of fruits in the neat bowls that you could freely just pick. We never ate Dinner, but took a beer one evening and enjoyed the pleasant environment.

The location was perfect, it's very centrally. 5-7 minutes away from Port-Authority & Times Square, if you have no problem to walk then the location is perfectly as central in manhattan you almost could get. We planned first to purchase metro cards but we chose instead to walk to most of ourdestinations instead and the few times we took the subway (to downtown and West 72 street) The Penn station was right at the end of the street.

I have only one negative thing to remark how ever i dont think this should lower the grade of the hotel and that is that the gym was very small, when we were searching for hotels we wanted a hotel with a good gym so if you are a more "advanced athlete" then you can not do anything special in this gym. I would recommend TRYP Hotel that they put out one picture or two forthe people who want to book a hotel with a great gym. However we still had no time for more than one day to exercise and we did this at the Crunch gym wich was located nearby and only costed us a small fee. If you would just like to run the treadmill or use the crosstrainer for cardio then this hotel's gym would just suite you fine.

As said before this is a very affordable hotel and unless the rates have been raised too much we would definitely stay at the TRYP at the next time we travel to New York

sorry for some bad english grammar.

We had 3 moms and our 3 16 year old daughters in New York City for their birthday celebrations. We wanted a room that wouldn't seclude anyone, where we could all be together and the TRYP was the perfect answer! The room we stayed in was so big! Bigger than anything I've seen in NYC. (We did use a booking agent to get a GREAT rate)
The hotel is very modern and a super fun feel. The lobby is open and modernly furnished. The staff is welcoming and very friendly.

We had 2 large tv's, 2 double beds, and 2 twin beds that folded down from the wall and a fold out couch. Refrigerator and sink in the living space. Bathroom was granite and tile and the shower was large and had 2 shower heads (one rain head). Shampoo, conditioner and body wash in wall containers. Pleny of fluffy towels and a large mirror.

With 6 girls, this was the room for us! The worst thing about the room was the view, but who cares when the inside is so wonderful!

Also close to a subway station. Would definately stay here again and have already recommended it to several!
