“Best Hotel in New York City to stay in while stranded by a snow storm.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2010

I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Chandler Hotel. Besides the convenient location, the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, good room rate, the friendly service from all the employees truly makes this hotel a real gem. From the charming doorman to the helpful front desk personnel who would hand write directions and subway instructions, everybody was so friendly and personable adding to our wonderful New York experience. Due to a big snow storm a week before Christmas we were stranded in NYC for 3 additional nights - we were kindly accommodated in a fancier room for the same rate. Complimentary tea and coffee was very welcome after a long outing in the cold and the beds were ultra comfortable with luxurious crisp white sheeting. Bathrooms were impeccably clean and a nightly turn down service pleasantly unexpected. Do yourself a favor and enjoy the hospitality of Hotel Chandler - I'm so pleased we did.

You will not get much better than this for the money, nice rooms, friendly staff, and a nice feel good factor. Good location for shops and sightseeing, and good restaurants.
We would definitely come back to this hotel. Only a small minor point, you get complimentry tea/coffee in the foyer and not in your rooms.

we stayed here from 24 - 27 Dec 09. The location is about 2 blocks from Macy's, the Empire State building and Penn Station which is quite convenient. The immediate surrounding of the hotel is not that interesting though and can be a tad too quiet at night. I won't recommend staying here alone especially if you want to return back to the hotel late. The service is generally friendly and helpful. A side tip - if you want to buy NYC souvenirs, the shops nearer to the hotel are a bit cheaper compared to those near the Penn Station. If you like Korean food, there are a lot of good Korean restaurants such as Tofu House which are only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.

The hubby & I went up to NYC for a two-day getaway and spent one wonderful night at the Hotel Chandler. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a Junior Suite, which was very spacious and truly complete in terms of amenities and details. The bed is very comfortable. Nice pillows and sheets. Good lighting and TVs (two in the Jr. Suite). Nice that they provided a sound dock for our iPod. Aveda soaps were very good. Had to go looking for the hairdryer, but I found it in the desk drawer. The front desk staff was very competent and friendly and the bell staff was amenable. Will definitely recommend and stay there again.

Stayed at the Hotel Chandler for one night. The room was small (they only had availability for a queen bed) but very clean. There was a flatscreen tv, robes and Aveda amenities. Walking distance to the Empire State Building. Overall, it was a nice hotel and we would stay there again.
