“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The location is perfect and very central for walking to the sights and shopping. Our room was very nice - we went for a Deluxe room which had a bit more space and we thought it was worth it. It seemed to have been fairly recently renovated with a lovely bathroom with double shower, and everything was very clean. The bed was comfy and we did not get much street noise, so we slept well.

The service was excellent, with all staff very helpful and friendly. We were particularly impressed by Charlie the concierge, who helped organise a dinner and trips for us. Thank you Hotel Chandler!

Room Tip: We thought upgrading to a Deluxe room was worth it for the extra space.

I stayed here for 5 nights on business in NY and it was a fantastic choice. Great location, in walking distance of everywhere I needed to go, the staff were very helpful and attentive, and the room was great, especially the bathroom. I will definitely stay again.
Note, the rooms at the front of the hotel are probably a little noisier than those at the back as they face out on to the street. My only (very small) complaint would be to ask them to use silent fridges for the minibars as I found the sound of the fridge really annoying!

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights on our first trip to NYC. The bed, sheets and pillows were all very comfortable. I couldn't have asked for a better bed. The room was smaller than say the Holiday Inn in Ann Arbor, MI but you should expect this when going to New York. The size of the room was no inconvenience for my wife or I and was actually quite larger (and cheaper) than some rooms we stayed at while in Europe. The bathroom was quite large and the towels were very soft. The bell hop was also very helpful in providing recommendations, hailing cabs, and moving bags. The only problem we ran into was when our room lock stopped working (on two separate nights). The keys were fine but the lock actually died. It was like 3AM and we were kind of buzzed so it was kind of a buzz kill. I would call this an isolated case. You should stay here when coming to New York. The hotel is very nice.

Dear CollinD:

My apologies for the lock not working during your stay. As you said this was an isolated incident but none the less we are sorry that this happened. I am happy that overall you had a great stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you back.

I had business in the city and needed a Sunday night stay. The Chandler has great rates for a Sunday stay. Less expensive than the chains and more luxurious. Great location...a 10-minute walk from Penn Station. Very comfortable room and the staff went out of their way to accommodate all my needs. Also, one of the most comfortable beds I've ever experienced! I will surely return.

We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed our time in New York. Our room was small but clean, comfortable and well appointed. The towels are thick and thirsty and the staff are all friendly. It's quite well located in mid-town. We booked this hotel through Venere.com which unfortunately, doesn't include taxes in it's final amount due so it was a bit of a nasty surprise on checking out but that's no fault of the hotel.

The Hotel is very clean, extremely comfortable bed. All the staff were friendly and helpful, offering advice on places to go and see. There was a mix up with our return journey to the airport (nothing to do with the hotel) the member of staff on reception gave us lots of help in making an alternative arrangement.

Room Tip: Our room didn't have a great view as it looked onto the back of the hotel, but this didn't c...

I stayed here for 5 nights on business.

First I must say you really can't beat the location or the service. Top notch in this regard.

I was put into room 328 on the third floor. Unfortunately this room is right near the elevators which are very noisy.

The elevators are also very slow so I just used the stairs to walk down 2 flights of stairs instead of waiting for the elevator which seemed to work well.

The room was a little small, but clean and comfortable. Bummer about the noise.
