First things first: nobody actually chooses to stay here if they know NYC. We stayed because everywhere else was full. The location is ghastly, surrounded by building sites (noisy and dirty) and at least a 15 minute cab ride from anything interesting (apart from Ground Zero, I suppose). Also, most taxis will not take you from the rank as they want airport fares only.
Rooms are very ordinary (definitely NOT 5*) and small-ish whilst breakfast is very expensive. Certainly I would never have dinner here.
The staff all seem to resent they are not working at the midtown brother, and it shows. Very unfriendly, even by NYC standards.
For desperados only.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. rooms were well equipped and spacious for New York. stayed on the 11th floor on the club level so had the benefits of a morning buffet breakfast and early evening presentations which included both complementary wine and champagne or soft drinks if your tee total!. staff were both helpful and courteous at all times top marks to "max" who served at the club level and also the concierge who arranged a limo back to the airport for us. the views from the rise bar out on the balcony was great at night{if a little chilly at this time of year} although drinks were a little pricey at over $8 for a bottle of beer once tax is added. The only disappointment was the food at the ground floor Restaurant. The steak was very chewy and the chicken was very average. At over $150 for 3 meals with drinks it was poor value for money so I would suggest you eat elsewhere. On the whole I would recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay here again.Taxis are a must in the winter months though!so remember to factor this cost in. about £10. plus tip to maceys!.

Have just returned (bleary-eyed)from a four night stay in NYC. We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Battery Park and it was gorgous, a really stunning place to stay - our lovely room had wonderful views of the Statue of Liberty and some of the most lovely sunsets i've seen. Now for the down side; our concierge mis-informed us on the location of a local bar, not something i'd expect of a concierge in this hotel - with no sincere apology. Secondly we ordered breakfast to our room and it was the colder side of warm - not good, especially considering it was $85! And finally some might find the location too far from some main uptown attraictions. But those facts aside we had a great time in a truly fantastic hotel and enjoyed it thoroughly. Our room was spacious and spotless and we loved it.

Recently stayed at the Ritz for two nights on a business trip. From the moment you check in to the moment you leave, you can feel the power of the aura created by staying here. The service is excellent, the staff obliging, and the furnishings and appointments are comfortable and elegant. You are well cared for here, and if you have the money, it's a worthwhile experience.

A wonderful facility. A tasteful design that is more modern than your typical Ritz. This first class facility is located at the southern tip of the City - which is a nice retreat away from the typical hustle. The service is top-notch (try Club Level), and the staff could not be more professional! Make sure to request a room that views Miss Liberty.
