“A Rip Off”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

The room, if you want to call it that. My closet is larger. There were no bureau's. Could not fit one in the rm. The quilt was really worn. I have thrown out better. It was a very challenging experience. You did not even have rm to roll a suitcase. The tub was a foot bath size. The price was way to expensive for a night. I have stayed in the city at other hotels that were considered economical and received a lot more for your money. Not at the Belnord. The only thing on the positive side was that the mini stamp rm was clean.

Room Tip: Avoid going to the Belnord Hotel! I am not an expert in travel, but this experience was the worst on...

Overall a good location, very close to line 1 subway station. Been there in 2007 and found it completely renewed. However, the bed was not so comfortable, wireless connection didn't work at all and the heating system was terribly noisy. Moreover the personnel was not so kind. A little expensive, too...

Fantastic location, average service, quality of sleep very low due to sound insulation problems. Probably will not stay again.

Due to Hurricane Sandy we had an extra night in NYC. We stayed at the Belnord. We were on the third floor and it was noisy. We could hear the lift every time it stopped. Plus the stairway door was noisy. The passage way was noisy as it was not carpeted and one could hear people coming and going at all hours. Wifi was intermittent. Room was incredibly small, with almost no room on either side of the bed. Bathroom was a fair size. Hotel was very clean. Front desk staff were at best disinterested, however, they were very helpful when trying to book a limo to take us to JFK. The location is very good with plenty of restaurants and cafes close by.

Room Tip: Try and not get too close to the stairways and lift.

I've stayed at high-end hotels, I've stayed at budget hotels. On the plus side, this one is clean and in a great residential NYC neighborhood. I knew the rooms would be small -- that I didn't mind -- but I don't know why the halls are so noisy with through traffic. You constantly hear the rolling of luggage. In the morning, I heard someone knock hard on several doors, sort of like housekeeping at some hotels but they knocked particularly loudly and did not say "housekeeping" -- I don't know if this was an anomaly or what. The heater is the room was loud. If you sleep like a rock through anything, well maybe this is OK.

I was visiting my son on the Upper West Side so I wanted a Hotel near him to cut down of the commute. This is a great location in a nice area if you need to be in upper westside. Would be excellent for someone visiting children at Columbia etc. There are a couple of Subways near by, right next to the 1 train. The room was very small, and I had a bigger room after looking in another room with a Double Bed. No dresser, coffee machine, mini bar, bad to nonexistent WiFi. The room did have a closet and small small bathroom. All rooms have no carpets, fake wood floors and tile bathrooms. All was very clean. Nice towels, but bad shampoo and soap. Overall not too bad if yoiu get a good rate. I paid approximately $250 per night with tax.

Room Tip: I was in Room 412 which was in the very back of Hotel so it was quiet without a view, but larger tha...

We came down to see a show and I shopped around quite a bit since, with hotel and transportation and meals out, this quickly becomes an $800 day. This place looked cool, but were we ever surprised by the maze of hallways and then the tiny postage stamp room. Picture a 2.5 foot clearance around the bed -- and that's it, folks. A closet the size of a broom closet, the tiniest bathtub I've ever seen. Other reviews mention bedding, the bed was comfortable but bedding clearly needs updating. The shower was great and the towels plush but that's the best part of it. We went from hot to cold all night and our view was a brick wall. We joked about "room service" and our wonderful coffee maker in the room (not). Even now I can hear my husband in the shower laughing at the size of that bathroom. NYC is expensive, I'll grant you that, but next time I'll gladly cough up another hundred bucks so I don't have to park my luggage on the floor. Total furniture = two bed stands and the bed. No more than 80 square feet. Nice neighborhood, unfriendly staff.

Room Tip: Pay more! And you will.
