“Fine hotel in midtown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

The Benjamin has all of the qualities of a fine small hotel: an attentive and helpful staff, warmth, elegant but not ostentatious public spaces. The welcome paradox - spacious, well-appointed rooms! I can't return to the "old" Algonquin and The Dorset is only a memory - we'll return to The Benjamin whenever we visit New York City.

My go to hotel destination when visiting New York City. The location is great, you can walk to Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, 5th Ave. etc. The staff is both helpful and friendly. The National Restaurant is lots of fun and has excellent food and drinks. I have recommended this hotel to family and friends and they have all been repeat visitors.

This hotel was booked on the recommendation of our Travel Consultant and we were not disappointed. It was centrally located for the sites we wished to see on our first visit to New York. The Reception Staff were very helpful with our requirements prior to our visit. The Concierges were exemplary in their knowlege of the City and their input into our visit was fantastic. Although the restaurant was always very busy the menu was not to our taste so we did not make use of it but there are great restaurants of all types in close proximity to the hotel. We had a great stay and would certainly return to this hotel if we are in New York again.

We love The Benjamin. It's location is one of the best in Manhattan. The rooms are spacious, the bed and pillows are very comfortable and the staff is wonderful! We look forward to staying at The Benjamin in our next trip to NYC.

Nice hotel. Touted as children friendly, which is a stretch. No children's menu, children not really welcome in Dining room. Went on a trip with granddaughters to go to American Girls Doll Store. Had a package for that with special beds for dolls. Not so great, had two little girls had to pay extra for 2nd doll bed. This is a clean, well located hotel. Nothing special, except for the spa which is small but lovely. Would not stay there again because it is very expensive for what it is.

Room Tip: Rooms on Lexington are very loud

The Benjamin is on 50th and Lexington a great location. We walked everywhere, Central Park, broadway all over the city. The hotel is charming small quaint lobby, friendly staff.
The only negative would be our experience with the restaurant.
Room service was slow and when it finally arrived was almost unediable. We had lunch in the restaurant and again the food and service was below par of the finer dining establishments NYC is known for. The National is riding the coattail of Zakarian but not his guidance in his kitchen.

Great uptown location with a restaurant attached. We had 3 simple guest rooms for an overnight business trip. When we arrived they were very pleasant and even had the rooms so upgrade all 3 to suites. Clean and comfortable while not making you feel stuffy. AAA discount helped with the cost. Can't wait to return.

Room Tip: They really know how rot make you feel special.
