“Island of Tranquility in the Midst of Times Square”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2014

I have not been to the Muse for several years, but was pleased with my most recent stay -- and have never had a bad one. I went for a double room - two double beds. I got room 912 -- which is a bigger room (thank you, Front Desk). My welcome was terrific -- two pleasant staffmembers at the front desk clearly happy to be working at the Muse. That first 3 minutes of interaction can set the tone for your stay, especially in New York City. The Muse has none of the hubbub or insanity of the crowds outside.

Sleep quality is excellent. The room had double shades (thank you) for the light sensitive. Room 912 was not on 46th Street, but seemed to be off the block protected from the street. It was very quiet.

Room was clean, shower pressure excellent. Bathroom etc. was immaculate. And I have always like the Kimpton chain's soaps, etc.

Overall, this was a 4.5 on a scale of 5. I'll reserve five stars from something extraordinary but the Muse would be very good for business or pleasure travelers to NYC.

I always read the reviews on tripadvisor but rarely write one.
The Muse inspired me to write a review.
If I can, I love to stay at Kimpton Hotels. I find the staff accommodating, not pretentious and very welcoming. The Muse did not disappoint. From the moment we walked into the lobby I could tell we would love the hotel. It was serene and peaceful, even during wine hour.
The front desk was very friendly, and acknowledged our 30th anniversary by upgrading our room into a suite and leaving us a bottle of champagne. Although the room was wheel chair accessible, it still was a suite with two tv's a pullout couch and a bedroom. The hotel was immaculate as was the room. Thank you Kimpton, I will definately stay here again!

Room Tip: We were on the 10th floor facing 45th street. It was quiet there.

Great hotel and great service. Located close to Broadway, Time Square and Rockefeller square. Room was spacious and very comfortable after long days walking the city. Fun happy hour and nice bar. Highly recommend this hotel for your next weekend in New York.

After many visits to The Muse Hotel, it is beginning to feel like our home away from home in New York! Like one's own home- you know what to expect and you expect comfort, cleanliness and peace. Once again, everything was perfect resulting in a lovely stay. We celebrated a birthday during this visit and were thrilled with the kind note and bottle of Prosecco awaiting us from the concierge. A suggestion to anyone who stays at this or any other Kimpton Hotel- become a Kimpton Karma Rewards member - the perks are impressive.

The Muse hotel is just around the corner from Times Square but once inside you wouldn't believe it. The atmosphere is calm and serene and peaceful.

Our premier double double room was large and spacious with comfy chairs and a dressing area. Beautifully furnished and thoughtfully laid out. Two extremely comfy beds. The bathroom was also large with a lovely powerful shower.

Sign up for their rewards scheme even if you don't plan to visit another Kimpton as you get free wifi and a $15 voucher to use on the mini bar. We also got drinks vouchers, wine and chocolate for following them on facebook, which is also worth doing for the extras.

The staff were helpful and friendly and full of ideas for activities and tips for getting the most out of your stay.

Great location. Right by Times Square. We were on the 10th floor and didn't hear noise. Very quiet. Front desk staff was nice especially Esprit. She gave my kids a goodie bag and She printed up directions and was very helpful. When you come in, there is a guy outside welcoming you in. I can't remember his name. Something with a W..Wilson??

Sign up for free with Kimpton rewards and you get a $10 bar credit. Free wine hour from 5-6 but we missed it every time. They should put filtered water in the lobby so we can fill up water bottles. They just had a pitcher of water so it's hard to fill up with a water bottle.
Check out the lobby bathrooms. Very neat! We had to pay for the breakfast buffet which wasn't good. Just some fruit, cereal, toast, muffins and danishes. Room decor is nice. Our room had small beds so next time I would get the king and not double beds. If you have pets, this is a pet friendly hotel too.

Right next door is an English pub we also ate at. TGI Fridays is across the street but is double the price. Save money and get food from all the food carts in the same block. The subway is a couple blocks away so buy the 7 day pass for $30. They didn't have anything for a couple days. Get the City pass too..don't do the hop on off bus with the subway so close by. We went to Empire State Building and Top of the rock which were a couple blocks away.

If you have a birthday tell the front desk and they will give you cupcakes. They brought it up to the room after we checked in. The other Kimpton had it in the room when we got there. It was my son's birthday but they thought it was mine and gave me a card . Instead of my son's name on it, it was my name. Wish they would have looked at the the survey they sent the night before which I wrote all the info on. I also called the week before too and they asked for his name. Still nice they did something though.

We didn't have a car so if you want to go to JFK it's about 40 min. away. Look around, we paid a taxi van $52 for a flat rate fee. It was better than taking all our luggage on the subway.

Room Tip: Stay away from corner rooms by the elevator.
