“Refreshing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

In the hustle and bustle of New York and especially the crowded, loud and very hectic Times Square just a few steps away, The Muse offers a tranquil and calming environment to rest. The staff was always smiling and always pleasant. The eclectic artistry and décor of the rooms, lounge/restaurant/bar was interestingly pleasing, The ease of entry and exit, the speedy elevators got us home quickly. The location was perfectly situated whether we traveled to Broadway shows, Times Square restaurants, good walk to Central Park or stay calm and eat at the Muse.

We really enjoyed our stay and we thought the value, although not cheap, was very good and we will stay here again!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 12th Floor, the higher seems better because more light is available.

We stayed at the Muse Hotel for 1 weekend night. I wish we had stayed longer!

First, location. The hotel is extremely close to Times Square and Broadway. I couldn't think of a better place to stay if you're coming to the city to see a show.

Second, service. As a loyal Kimpton fan, this location did not disappoint. We were greeted with a smile, and once checked in, received a hand written card, bottled water, and fresh Easter cookies.

Third, accommodations. Our 2-double bed room was much larger than I had anticipated. We didn't have a city-view, but the size of the room and bathroom made up for it. We had 3 guests and everyone had plenty of room. Have no fear sleeping near Times Sq, there was no city-noise during our stay.

I didn't have the opportunity to try any food from NIOS, but the service at the bar was tremendous.

Be weary of bad reviews, this place is fantastic.

We are Kimpton "Inner Circle" members and have only given Kimpton positive reviews before. We never received our Inner Circle amenity during our stay. Booked the birthday month email promotion, but didn't receive the wine/dessert portion of the offer. Ice machine on 17th floor was not working during our stay. Arranged for 2 p.m. late check out and housekeeping arrived before then saying they were not told about it. When mentioned issues regarding the lack of the Inner Circle amenity and lack of part of the birthday promotion we booked, we were initially given a coupon for our next visit after complaining about it at check out before a small adjustment was made to our final bill. I'm not generally someone who complains, but we specifically booked this hotel because of the birthday month offer and the Kimpton Inner Circle "perks." Despite inquiring about them after we checked in and notifying the property this was a special occasion in advance, still didn't receive them. Room was small and not that special compared to other Kimpton properties we have stayed at. Overall, a so so experience at this property.

We have stayed at The Muse Hotel numerous times. It is a small boutique hotel right near the theater district yet not on a busy, noisy street. The staff is very helpful, the rooms are nicely appointed, and their restaurant, NIOS, is excellent for breakfast and dinners. The hotel is VERY close to theater, and it is a 15 min. walk to Grand Central and to MOMA. The location is fantastic! It is the only place we stay now when we go to NYC.It is a member of the Kimpton Hotels.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the 10th floor not facing the Times Square area.

As an inner circle member of the Kimpton group i always try to stay at a Kimpton hotel because it makes me feel like home far away from home and i love the whole `Kimpton` feeling. I was really looking forward to visit this hotel because of it`s central location. I booked 2 rooms starting for 2 nights and if i would like the hotel i would stay an extra 2 nights. I am sad to say that i left after 2 days.
I was on a business trip in Mexico and i tried to reach the hotel by phone to make sure i had 2rooms. It took me 21 minutes to be able to speak with somebody and the lady I had on the phone was not friendly at all. Everybody can have a bad day i was thinking. Prior to my arrival i called the hotel again and this time i was lucky, i took them only 5 minutes to answer my phone call.
Arriving at the hotel made me understand what a fantastic location this hotel has. I didn’t think that the front desk people were friendly and or well trained. Doormen don't open any doors. Anyway, i got to my room and it was clean but nothing special at all. The next morning I had breakfast which was rather depressing. The smallest buffet i have seen in a long time in a hotel. After 2 days i decided to go to another hotel because this place just didn’t feel right and the staff was just not friendly. It was like nobody had a smile on his face.
At the end i forgot my blazer so i had to call the security, they are even harder reachable than the reservation department. You call front desk and they `connect` you to security after 2 minutes there is an automatic reply that ask you ta call back later. At the end i ended up going to the hotel back and wait in the lobby for the front desk guy.
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anybody. The only good reason coming here is for the location

Nice hotel with a great location. Near Times Square and all the theaters. Lots of good options to eat nearby. Staff really nice and helpfull. Only one problem - breakfast. We made the reservation with breakfast included and it was very poor. Two kinds bread, some pastry, orange juice, tea and coffee. The better option for breakfast was not inclued. One of the days that we went to have breakfast around 09h30, there wasn't pastry, a few slices of bread.

The location alone should cause this hotel to pop up on your radar the next time you are visiting NYC but it is the staff that will keep you coming back. We have all been there the hesitation on check in hoping that your reservation is there because you don't have a backup plan or a friends couch to stay on. There is also a careful balance of being informative and quick but not cold to the customer and being warm and inviting. I travel all over the world and the front desk staff here are some of the BEST I have seen. They are warm, friendly, inviting, and always acknowledge your return/departure. The lobby is small but modern and with the Kimpton signature wine reception who could go wrong. My room during this stay was facing the street but insulated enough to block out any street noise. The bed was super comfortable like sleeping on a cloud. There were a few maintanence distractions such as dated caulking around the tub and a few scuffs/marks on the wall that have outlasted their stay but overall very clean. The elevators here are very quick so be careful and don't try to hold them. If I had not run out of outstanding service pins I would have gladly given one to Anna and would vote this location as a 2014 award of excellence.
