Details of our stay:
Check in/out: Seamless and friendly. We used the valet parking and our vehicle was well taken care of. On our last day, our bill was under our door, sparing us from lining up at the front desk.
Location: Cannot beat it. A stone's throw from Times Square.
Decor: Lovely. Tasteful and imaginative.
Room: Larger than expected, on a high floor (floor 16). Windows could open, surprised to discover that. The balconies below us looked lovely (must return to try one day!)
Nice surprise: After a walk in the evening, returned to find a chilling bottle of Prosecco, truffles, nice cheeses and crackers. Included was a handwritten note from the manager wishing me a happy birthday. How lovely.
Bed: Amazingly comfortable. Slept so well. Blind provided good black out for the room. Extra, very cozy blanket in the closet.
Mini-bar: We were given a $15 credit to raid the bar. A small can of Pringles and bag of gummies used this up.
Music: The ipod station was playing nice classical music upon arrival.
Amenities: Nice shampoos and body lotion in bathroom. Umbrella was welcome on the one misty day during our visit. I used the yoga mat, it came in handy. Socks hanging in the closet! Plenty of hangers. We received the New York Times every day. Free wifi with our Kimpton membership, came in very handy. In room safe.
Room service: Swift service - we ordered a cheese tray later in the evening to go with our own wine (room includes wine bucket, corkscrew and wine glasses).
Service: Barbara at the front desk was so helpful and professional - she confirmed our restaurant reservations for us and printed directions. Ronaldo also provided printed directions on our day of departure and recommended terrific sightseeing on our last day.
Those washrooms off the lobby!: Each reflecting a personality, each stall is decorated to reflect a different mood. A must-see.
Hospitality: It is a nice touch to offer a 5-6 wine reception in the lobby. The small lobby fills up fairly fast, but it is no problem to take a glass up to the room.
Cute note: my husband pointed out how he shared the elevator with some penguins in crates. They really do allow a variety of animals!
Advice: Become a Kimpton member before arriving to benefit from added amenities. Also benefit from discounts: our discount was with AAA (20%) but other discounts are available, including if it is your birthday.
In summary, a lovely stay. Cannot wait to return.
