“Great Little Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

This was quite a find in NYC. One block from TS, yet quiet in the room. I cannot find anything to complain about. Staff was very nice, room was clean and modern. Free wine happy hour and coffee in the am was a nice touch. I would definately recommend this hotel and would stay here again

My partner and I stayed at the Muse for 8 days. I would highly recommend this hotel, great location. It is about a half block off of Times Square which we thought was quiet considering where it was located. There are a few restaurants/pubs by the hotel, which is very convenient for a late night snack or drink. We stayed in the Executive King and the Executive King Suite, comfortable beds, & lovely spa bathrooms. The staff at the Muse are very friendly and helpful. The 5 to 6 wine reception was appreciated at the end of a long day of walking and shopping ! We are planning to go back very soon and will certainly go back to the Muse.

Room Tip: the higher the floor the better, New York is a busy city so there will always be some street noise.

We enjoyed staying at The Muse. It was very easy to get to and located right in the heart of the action. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room itself was small but did have a sizable bathroom and nice shower. The real attraction was the very soft and comfortable bed and linens. I don't know the thread count of the sheets and pillow cases, but they were very very soft. My wife commented that the bed was one of the most comfortable she had every slept on. I don't know if it had anything to do with it, but she said I didn't even snore. If you want affordable, comfortable, clean, classy and convenient....book The Muse for your next stay in midtown Manhattan.

This review is solely based on the room we got and not based on any other facilities like the spa provided by the hotel .

There are rooms that are cozy and there are rooms that are dull and gloomy.
The room we got falls under the dull and gloomy category.
This hotel is right in the heart of Times Square but it is surrounded by tall buildings on its every side so you don't get any natural light into the room.
The room and the services were OK.

We had originally been looking at staying in the Giraffe Hotel but on seeing this place changed our mind. We booked well in advance and opted for a lovely room with jacuzzi tub etc.

Our last stay inNYC was at the Paramount and it was a sad affair but thankfully, The Muse didnt disappoint this time around. From the moment we arrived till the moment we left the staff were fantastic and couldnt do enough to help. (one minor exception was the moody woman who was at the desk when we went to pick up our key - a small blotch on an otherwise perfect stay). We arrived on an early flight into JFK and reached the hotel around 6 am, staff at that time were delightfully helpful and sorted our luggage being stored etc. We arrived back around 3pm and thats when we got the moody woman sadly.

Our luggage was already in teh room waiting and what a beautiful room too. It had a rooftop terrace to veiw Times Square and much more. We made ourselves comfortable and enjoyed every minute we spent there. Some of the touches were very nice, even the bowl inside the lobby for your pooch to have a drink :)

On my last day I was awaiting a parcel which didnt arrive on time. When it arrived even after I had left, the Hotel Security Head continued to help by liasing with me to get it sent back home.

Thank you sooooo much guys and I cant wait to get back and enjoy the hospitality once again :)

Room Tip: Book a room with jacuzzi - expensive but amazing

Kimpton tends to be a reliable hotel chain, and The Muse was no exception. It's not an inexpensive hotel, but if you can afford it, it's well worth it. The location is excellent. Tucked onto a side street in the theater district, but only a block away from the heart of Times Square. Also very close to plenty of public transportation, although we didn't even need to use it all weekend as we walked pretty much everywhere we went.

Check-in was fairly seamless. They had our room ready for us about an hour prior to check in, which was nice, and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. I had noted in my reservation that I was in NYC celebrating my birthday with my mother, and they sent up a bottle of champagne on our first night!

The Kimpton freebies are great. Got a $15 mini-bar credit for being an In Touch Member. Also got free WiFi. Free wine reception every day 5-6. Coffee in the lobby every morning. And every day, there was a fashion truck parked out front. That was NOT free, but it was really fun getting to shop out of a truck every afternoon when we returned to the hotel.

We had a great stay at the Kimpton. Our room was clean and comfortable (nothing matches Kimpton beds!) and the staff was excellent. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip.

Dear Blurryeuphoria,

Thank you for the five star review!

We are so pleased to know you enjoyed your birthday and both you and your mother were able to start your trip off right with a glass of bubbly.

Thank you for being Kimpton Intouch members and we are happy to know you were able to do a little shopping right outside the hotel during the wine reception. (What’s better then wine and shopping??)

We hope to see you again soon.

A brilliant, centrally located hotel off Times Square. The room was a great size for a NY hotel and the front desk staff were helpful and friendly. Every evening at 5pm they have wine time where guests mingle with complimentary wine and beer, a lovely treat to plan your day round.

The rooms were a good size, nice bathroom with nice toiletries. The aircon was very noisy and there wasn't enough storage space for two people staying a week - one tiny closet mostly taken up with the hotel bathrobes and a giant duvet. Thankfully it was still hot in NY so our t shirts and shorts didn't take up much space!

Room service seemed to come very early - a couple of days we had a bit of a lie in they were rapping on the door about 9,30am. Not a massive issue but still pretty early.

There's no pool and we never ate in the hotel - the bar always looked very quiet but with we never wanted to stay that long in the hotel anyway with NY on the doorstep. The hotel does have a decent gym that provides towels and free headphones - nice touches!

Overall, this was a brilliant hotel and I'd recommend it to any first timers in NY - the location is just off Times Square and perfect for centrally exploring the city, close to major subway lines etc. But it's far enough down the street to not be bothered by noise etc. it was so quiet you'd never know you were that close.

Lovely staff, a lovely hotel - thanks so much for making our holiday so great!

Room Tip: Corner rooms have a better view - we were on 18 and the view wasn't very good to be honest. Our...
