“Great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

My mum, sister and I spend a few days in NYC in this hotel.
We were looking for a hotel-apartement in Manhattan, well located and we were very pleased with our stay.

First, it is very easy to find weather you arrive by cab or by subway (only 5 minutes walk from Union Square Station). The landlords are very nice and give good pieces of advice to (re)-discover the city.
I think what is great is that it doesn't look like a hotel. You feel like you belong to the city.

Our apartement had one big room, a living room and a little kitchen (all furnished apartement) and of course a bathroom. There was enough place for 3 people and all our suitcase (and then all the gift and stuff we bought, thanks NYC for great shopping).

The most amazing thing is the silent by day and night (incredible in NYC).
The apartement was clean and very functional (and there is the air conditionning also)
And of course the hotel is so well located! Only 5 minutes walks to Union Square, 10-15minutes walks to Flatiron, maybe 20-25minutes to ESB. Easy line on the subway to the main tourist monuments, and of course lot's of shop around.

One of the negative point is the lack of light. But for a few days it's ok since you won't stay in the appartement during the day.....
I really appreciate my stay there and I for sure highly recommend it (and will go back during my next trip in NYC)

“The place to be in NYC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2012

You're so close of everything in Manhattan and it's so quiet as well and secure. I think it's a good point when you're looking for a place in NYC...
We get a one bedroom suite, which was very well decorated, and very clean.
The king bed in the room is comfy, and you can use the sofa in the living room as a bed.
The kitchen is all furnished, you have free tea and coffee.
You even have the flatiron in the room, which is quiet rare !
You almost fill like you're home...!
Don't be afraid to see walls through the window, you are in NYC...
The only very small bad point : no elevator...(very very small bad point)
Thanks again Maria for this !

“Great find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2012

We stayed in the two bedroom suite for 6 nights in May 2012 (4 with another couple). We really enjoyed staying in this place. The things we really liked about the suite:
- Great location. We loved it here - as other reviewers have said. Close to the subway to get anywhere, out of the busiest areas of the city, but also close to great was easy to walk thro
- We liked the little hotel safe to be able to put our passports, etc.
- The kitchen had the basics - we didn't end up using it at all :)
- Upon check-in, they did provide info as to the closest grocery stores, recommended restaurants in the area. This was great. The only thing that would have made this better was a map.
- The beds were amazingly comfortable
- The suite was very clean. We weren't expecting much service given the style of accomodation, but they did made our beds/clean out the garbages/change our towels on a regular basis -- which was more than expected.

The only very minor negatives that I had were:
- the two bedroom suite is on the second floor directly above the stairs. The first set of stairs are quite old and therefore quite noisy - so you could hear the comings/goings of everyone. That being said - this was pretty minor as it isn't a big building!
- the two bedroom suite is at the back of the building - so similar to the descriptions - just be forewarned that there isn't much natural light in the suite - ie. all windows basically face brick walls. We didn't mind this - as I think being on the back of the building helped drown out some of the construction noise besides us - but just something to keep in mind.
- the biggest negative was the door of the suite. The combination lock was great but the door didn't seem to fully close 100% tightly - so just made us a little nervous as far as if it was actually locked/anyone could get it.

All in all - if I were to go back to New York I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

“location location location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2012

Fabulous location right on Fifth Avenue in Greenwich Village. The area is very lively (but not crazy noisy and busy like Midtown) with lots of restaurants, small eateries and cafes in a sort of university area. Both Washington Square Park and Union Square are steps away, Meatpacking and Soho about 15 minutes walk. I did not pay attention when booking and expected a suites hotel. Turns out to be a small guest house but great place nevertheless. They don't have the normal 24 hours reception but you have the owners phone to call or their doorbell to ring if you need anything. I loved the homely atmosphere and the room decor. The kitchen was great to have (they also provide coffee and tea, herbs and cereals). Very quiet place, not much going on but after our busy days this was a plus.
The only pain was the two (long) flights of stairs to climb after walking miles and miles!

Room Tip: Book the room through their own website if you can, it will be cheaper!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
We are designers that restored bits and pieces, decorated and furnished most of this typical turn-of-the-century Village building now we call home. Our aim was to create a tranquil yet ultimately hip urban hideaway that fuses comfort with originality. The design ideas were inspired by the unique urban architectural style of the surrounding neighborhoods where classic and modern mix in a fantastic diversity. Located at the northwestern end of Greenwich Village and in the very heart of Manhattan, this is an awesome spot to live at as well as a perfect base for sightseeing. A few steps from Union Square, historic Washington Square Park, four major subway lines; within walking distance to Midtown, the Meatpacking and Soho - this location simply cannot be beat! ... more   less
