I am a great Harry Potter fan so Harry Potter, the Exhibition was a the top of my list of things to see over two days in NYC. It did not dissapoint. The helpful staff said it should take about 45 minutes to see. We stayed an hour and a half. If you like Harry, don't miss this audio tour for a modest extra fee. Definitely worth the cost. They had the items I most wanted to see: Hermonies gown for the Christmas ball, the same for Ron, and the horrible witches's pink suit. Plus much, much more. Great for family. Not to be missed.
You must have tickets for a specific time. I suggest you go as soon as you arrive in New York and try and get tickets for when it opens the next day. It was VERY crowded when we went to buy tickets but much less so at 10am the next morning. Very popular with kids as you can imagine.
The HP store at the end is full of wonderful "opportunities to buy" at various prices from reasonable to outrageous.
The only disappointing aspect was the women's rest room. Dirty, overloaded with trash, with half the stalls empty yet locked. I complained.
