“Not as interesting as advertised”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012 via mobile

There wasn't much to see. Exhibits seemed lost in the large space. There are better ones in Washington DC. Not worth the money.

“Kids named it the highlight of this year's Christmas NYC trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

Bought tickets without really knowing what to expect. My children are diehard Harry Potter fans of the books - not to into the movies - and they were blown away. I won't ruin the surprise, but the excitement starts from the very opening. The exhibit hits everything; nothing is missed. You are really pressured to buy the headsets ($7). In spite of my misgivings, I bought two. I wish I hadn't, as it was really about the making of the movies. The Gilderoy Lockheart exhibit is worth the price of admission.

“MUST be a Harry Potter fan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012

We recently spent a week in NYC, and this was definitely a highlight of our trip. Our children (12 and 19) are huge fans of HP, as are we, so we thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the props and hearing back stories about various items. Splurge and get the headset (free if purchased with AMEX) - it was worth it. We noticed several families just running through the exhibit in a hurry, just glancing at the various articles. For them, I feel sure that it was a "rip-off". However, we spent about 1 1/2 hrs - didn't want to miss a thing. My kids kept saying that it was awesome. Of course, the gift shop items are exorbitant, but that seems to be a trend everywhere. We just enjoyed looking. Again, GO if you are fans - not sure I would spend the money if we weren't. We went about 5 pm on a weekday, bought tickets ahead of time and didn't wait in any lines.

It was neat to see all the Harry Potter stuff, and the intro sorting hat was neat, that is about as good as it gets... but definitely not worth almost $100 for two kids/two adults. So much potential, so little excitement. No photos allowed (probably because this attraction is much more appealing if you have no idea what you are getting into)

“Great place for young families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Harry Potter exhibition was on when we visited, very much fun for the youngest members in the family. Not too crowded and well worth a visit.
Recommended to spend a short hour there.
