“Nice hostel, with great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

I have been in NewYork many times before, and I have always stayed at hotel. But this time the economy was not to a hotel. So I chose Urban Oasis Hostel, and that was so good. The service is so great and helpful, and the common areas are big and clean.
I had my own room, with a double bed. The room was clean and big enough for 2 persons. I can only I can only recommend this place if you want a nice hostel with a great location.

New York accommodation is expensive. Period. So why pay for an expensive hotel room when you will be spending most of your time elsewhere anyway? With this logic and needing to be proximal to the Graduate Centre at CUNY for a conference I decided to take the plunge: hostel-living once again at age 40. This is no ordinary hostel and I definitely recommend Urban Oasis for anyone looking for quality accommodation in mid-town NYC and at not budget busting prices. The entrance is not fancy - it's like entering your own apt - it's NYC - it's quaint - after two days I was used to the more rustic approach compared to a hotel. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The kitchen and other common areas are spotless. The briefing and information first class. The staff are fantastic. Having to stay a minimum of 5 nights definitely helps as there isn't a constant flow of people or noise. Sharing a bathroom is okay - they are clean and well proportioned. In all honesty there was a jam at times which I might have done without, but then again my budget to do other things in the city liked me! Whole-foods is close enough for some good "home" eating when eating out gets too tiresome. 31st Street is a cab thoroughfare from 5th to 6th Avenues so I was always able to catch a cab right outside the door! Bottom line: I will return. Urban Oasis is like having your very own apartment in NYC!

Room Tip: Double rooms are spacious.

I stayed here for a few days by myself, and a few weeks later when I returned with my girlfriend. We both loved the place! Both rooms I had were exceptionally clean, as were the bathrooms and common rooms on each floor. I't didn't have a "noisy hostel" vibe about it either which was nice

The kitchen space is ample as are the common areas where you can relax and unwind after a busy day touring NYC, the owners are amazing and make you feel as though you are staying at someone's house as opposed to a hotel, they sat with us over a cup of coffee and recommended places to see and where the locals go to eat, they really seemed to go out of their way to make you feel at home

The room size was bigger than some of the Hotels that I've stayed in whilst I've been in Manhattan, definitely check this place out if you can book in!

the title says it all. its not a hotel. its definitely home. the kitchen is well stocked with utensils, people share their food and its extremely clean. the place is well decorated with extremely comfy couches and bean bags. the living room also has a stereo set and a tv with tons of shows and networks like netflix. your bedroom comes with a television too with premium channels. dont even get me started on the staff and security. even with it only being a simple studio like gostel, the ladies who take care of you make sure everything is taken care of and theyre always eager to help you in any way they can. i can honestly say that they made trip. we became quick friends. theres also a game room on the 10th floor with board games. the rooms have a lot of space considering where you are in new york. beautiful, wonderful place. i would never second guess coming back here again.

So before coming to NY for the first time I did a lot of research into places to stay - I found a lot of hostels for quite high prices (comparing to Europe) with ok ratings despite comments on rats and cockroaches and other vermin. I almost gave up, and then I found Urban Oasis. This is the most perfect hostel I have ever stayed at! Don't get scared upon arrival - it looks like you are coming for a visit at somebodys appartment, only, for a few days . this amazing appartment is yours to use! Spanning two appartments in two floors it is great. You get assigned a room and there is a kitchen, two bathrooms, huge living room, TV, computers, WiFi and a view of the Empire state building - what more could you ever want? You also have access to great staff - everybody is extremly helpful! And did I mention that it is extremly clean? It is. And it is one of the very few places that actually looks exactly like the proffesional photos.
Near subway and Empire state, 10 blocks (walking distance) to Times Square and surrounded by shopping options - it was the perfect choice and I truly recommend it to everybody!

Urban Oasis is the perfect position for NYC. Walking distance to so many things, and quick subway rides to everything else. The place is clean and well run, and the staff are lovely. They even let you know about the credit card surcharge and suggest you pop to the ATM over the next few days to pay in cash, and therefore save some money. The one, small issue while I was there was that the Internet was out, which was a provider outage and not something that could be fixed quickly. The staff kept everyone informed throughout. The room I was in was big and comfortable. Thanks especially to Sylvia, who was assistance personified!

The hostel was excellent, and the staff was A+ :)

Our room was a little bit noisy, but not so disturbing. (Our room was on the 9. floor)
There were 6 rooms and 2 shared bath-rooms on the floor. (But always had enough time to prep.)

I highly recommend this lovely place to everyone!
