4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

The hotel is in a great location near Union Square. If you want the lights of Times Square and be surrounded by tourists, you should spend your money elsewhere. From this hotel, you can get wherever you want with great ease by subway or taxi. Reception staff were very helpful, especially Kitty. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and although we had a slight issue with shower initially, it didn't affect our stay at all. Would recommend to anyone who wants experience the real New York.

Three only things good: girl at the front desk when I arrived, location and comfortable bed.

The bad: Loud music playing until 11h30pm, noisy, no heating, no hot water, missing light bulbs, wallpaper holding with scotch tape, dirty stained carpets, safe broken, etc, etc, etc.

Room Tip: Just choose another hotel

Dear Valued Guest

We are very sorry to read your unpleasant experiences in our hotel. Please accept our apologies. We opened Barn Joo Restaurant & Bar in the hotel and the music was on till late night. We are taking your comments into consideration, and are looking into the hi-tech soundproofing system to block the music sound. Also, the restaurant is turning down the volume after 9 PM to minimize noise effect to hotel guests. I'm wondering if you notified us about another issues. All staff are very attentive to resolve any issues and try to do everything possible to make our guests enjoyable and comfortable. If you give another chance to stay with us, we would be more than happy to host you. Please feel free to reach out to me. I will do my best to reserve the perfect room for you. Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

We enjoyed our stay in the Flat Iron area of NYC. The women at the desk were friendly and helpful. The room was typically NYC small...but clean and comfortable. Our only complaint was that there is no coffee maker in the room. Free coffee in the lobby, but who wants to go down into the lobby in the AM for coffee and bring it up to the room? The restaurant was under construction, so we cannot comment on that. We booked through Priceline and feel we got a great deal. Loved shopping and sight seeing in the Chelsea neighborhood. If we could get the price again, we would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Check out the neighborhood for breakfast. Lots of terrific choices.

Dear Ms. Pmessore

Thank you for taking your time to post comments. We are happy to hear you had a pleasant stay with us. On the other hand, we do apologize for all inconveniences due to no coffee maker in a room. Your comment is very important for us to improve our service and room amenities. Also, we will open the restaurant in the begging of March, 2013 and offer room service to hotel guests. If you do have a plan for the return to us, please feel free to contact me. We will do everything possible to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable again. Thank you very much.

With sincere regards,

The staff were very nice and the hotel tidy. The only cons was that we did not have windows in the room but a tiny skylight (shame when you're in NY). Situated in the 19th street, it's very central and just a few minutes from Time square and others NYC attractions.

Dear Mr. Rafael

Thank you for staying with us. We were happy to hear you had a pleasant experience for the duration of your stay. We do have the two features of a queen room. Some queen rooms have wide windows facing to the Broadway view and others have a skylight window. If you do have a future plan in New York City, please feel free to contact us. We will do our best to host you in a room with windows facing to a city view. Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

I've stayed in many NYC hotels in the past couple of years, but this hands down is our favorite and one I would come back to. My husband and I are Native New Yorkers who have lived here all our lives and have only recently moved out. We know the city like the backs of our hands, so when we saw where this cute hotel was located, and the great price it was offered at, we booked it immediately. This is now officially our favorite boutique hotel in New York. Most well-priced boutique hotels in Manhattan have very tiny or older rooms. That was not the case here. The rooms are minimalistic, clean, modern, and chic. They have great amenities like memory-foam mattresses, free wifi, flat screen TVs, adjustable heating/cooling systems, Fiji water (outstanding), a room safe, and even slippers! Even the lobby is pretty and cozy, with free coffee, tea, magazines, and maps of the city. The people are very warm and friendly too. We absolutely loved our stay. It really felt like home away from home, and hopefully this can become our go-to hotel in the future.

Nice place, we were 5 in a very big room, composed of two independent areas, a big bathroom, and a big tv. The view from the window was very bad: in the middle of the building there is a circular hole to give some natural light to the rooms, so you cannot even see the sky from there, as the the wall in front of the window is 1mt away.
Beds are fantastic, as well as the bathroom.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

This boutique hotel was a great find. We spent 3 nights as a family of 4 in a double queen room and it was plenty of room for us. It is not easy to find a room in NYC with two queen beds as most hotels have double beds. With 2 teenagers, we needed the larger bed size. The staff was exceptional and always greeted us with a smile and pleasant conversation. The location is great! Two blocks from Union Square, walking distance to Chelsea and easy subway rides uptown or downtown. There are lots of restaurants and shopping nearby too. They provide complimentary coffee & hot tea all day which we took advantage of after walking around in cold NY weather. A great change of pace from the standard impersonal chain hotels. We would definitely stay here again!
