“Excellent stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

The doctor is in...I just returned home from an outstanding stay at this hotel. I booked the hotel via a discounted hotel website. As I watched the price drop closer to our arrival date, I was disappointed that I didn't get the lowest rate available. Although I didn't get the lowest rate, I was not disappointed with the stay. The hotel had excellent security, fast check-in, newly renovated rooms, and an outstanding city view. Our room included a continental breakfast; there was a variety of options and the coffee was delicious. The coffee maker was self-service and challenging to operate and there was a wait; but, the coffee was delicious. I didn't take advance of the complimentary happy hour and snacks the night before so can't comment on that. The room had a high tech control panel that controlled the lighting and temperature of the room. It was easy to operate and we had complete control over the temperature of the room. There was plenty of closet space and the toiletries smelled great. Ice is located on the 31st floor and there are buckets available at the machine. We stayed on the 38 floor. When checking out this morning, a customer attempted to cut the line (unknowingly it seemed). The hotel associate gently directed him to the one line that was established already. I appreciated how in tune the associate was to a customer like myself. I have read that the hotel is a bit out of the way, which is true, however, it's a nice walk back to the hotel if you like to walk. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I appreciated all of the little touches. Thank you to the hotel staff for making our stay so special on New Year's Eve. Looking for a lovely hotel out of the hustle and bustle of everything, consider the One Un, doctor's orders.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 38th floor.

We stayed 3 nights and booked a corner room with a gorgeous view of the Chrysler building, Empire State Building and Manhattan. The rooms are clean, staff is very friendly, and breakfast buffet was outstanding. Make sure that when you book through their website that you get registered for the e-upgrade program that allows you to take advantage of better rooms with a great view. Have fun at a really great place that allows you to breathe the stunning spirit of New York. Even if the hotel is not located centrally it is worthwile to stay at a calm location.

Room Tip: Take advantage of the e-upgrade program (see website) and get a great corner room with an exciting v...

A late night business meeting had me reserve a room here vs. commuting back home late at night. This was my first time staying in NYC since I live less than 1 hour from Manhattan by commuter train.

The value was excellent, and the location - across the street from the United Nations building, lends itself to great security (at the hotel and in the area) and a quiet atmosphere, away from the crowds of Times Square and midtown.

Check in was smooth and painless though there was a wait as some of those checking in before were with a group so their details had to be sorted out before they could get to me.

My room was larger than expected for a NYC hotel. It had a great view of the East River. A king bed, flat screen TV, working desk, and chair made up the decor. Overall, the theme was modern from a perspective 10 years ago. It was still fine but getting tired. The bathroom showed the most signs of age. Peeling wallpaper, cracked and chipped enamel in the tub, and a few cracks in the glass top vanity were testaments to the fact that this property is in need of maintenance. The bathroom had a funky smell to it as well - similar to a diner's counter top after being wiped down with a wet rag. The fact that there is no vent in the bathroom probably accounts for the smells and mildew - the whole bathroom fogs up and cannot be vented, thus leading the the environment that breeds the mildew and results in smells.

The HVAC was strong, worked very well, and I was so high up that I didn't hear any of the traffic noise for the FDR except for the errant ambulance or police siren. The HVAC was covered with slats, some of which were misaligned and/or missing and some of which was covered in dust - that was a negative.

Service was fine and competent. I had signed up for the frequent stay program with this chain but my stay was never credited - annoying. Another annoying aspect - charge for internet access. I hate that.

Overall the Millenium is in a great location (just a few minutes walk to Grand Central Station, a bit more to Times Square) and offers a great rate when compared to other hotels. It suffers a bit from age and could use some better maintenance and cleaning but if you can overlook these negatives you'll be set for your NYC experience.

$500 per night & no free wi-fi, Really ! If they want to attract business travellers then they should cater for business travellers needs. Rooms were very 1980's, swimming pool was closed and the bar & restaurant prices were pretty extortionate for what they delivered. However, excellent desk & door staff, amazing views and great location. I've stayed in much better hotels for under half the price of this one !

Room Tip: Get a room as high as you can and enjoy the views.

A lovely hotel, with friendly staff. Nice sized rooms with good amenities. Its a little out of the way and I would recommend staying closer to times square as this is where everything is happening. Nether the less lovely. Recommend asking for a corner room.!

Room Tip: Ask for Corner Room - they shouldnt charge you any more for this as its the same room type.

The location was great, as were the views. The price was good for the area. However, the room was a bit rough. The walls were scuffed in a number of places, and the furniture had the look of well used IKEA stock.
