Owner description: From its inception, Macy's Herald Square was a store unlike any other. Over the past 150 years, it has become a true New York City icon. Built in 1902, Macy's Herald Square was the first building to have the modern-day escalator, and it has continued to be a trendsetter. Today, "America's Largest Department Store" covers an entire city block with 11 levels of the latest fashions for you and your home. Macy's offers a full-service Visitor Center on the Mezzanine Level, plus restaurants throughout the store and exciting events almost every day.

“Disappointing...........”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

Mrs H loves to shop and browse, while I follow behind thinking of beer, but even she was disappointed at Macy's, there was a lot of building work going on which didn't help, but we were both of the opinion that as far as department stores go (we went to Bloomingdales too lol), we much prefer the ones in London............

“An Expensive Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

All you expect and more... But so expensive even though they claim to have specials and offers to tempt you into parting with your 'hard earned'. Every designer brand you can imagine and an amazingly beautiful store to walk round ... would take you more than one day to cover it all properly!

“What the...?!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013 via mobile

what of department store offers no service, is our of wares and is a dirty mess all over the place? Hint: Macy's.

The only thing worthy of seeing is the escalator made of wood, that's all.

“Slight disappointment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

This was the only thing that disappointed me about NY. OK Macy's is the largest departmental store in the world but unlike Harrods does not have a food hall or a pet department and does not have the architectural features of Harrods. Impressive handbag and shoe departments but other than that overall not as good as Harrods for me
