“Nice hotel in Tribeca”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013 via mobile

Just back from 4 nights in NY, staying in the Tribeca Grand. We loved downtown NY, so the location is good, just below Canal St.

Hotel is very cool, not the typical corporate hotel - there is no desk in the room, and lighting is a bit dim (if you do need to work), this wasn't an issue for us. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, and though we were on the 2nd floor (including Friday and Saturday) we didn't find the noise that other reviewers mentioned an issue.

It's not cheap, but what is in NY, and internet is included (unlike many other hotels).

Personally we prefered Soho to Tribeca, so I think I would stay in the Soho Grand rather than the Tribeca Grand (I did stay there about 10 year ago). But they are really only about 5 minute walk apart.

I would definitely stay in a "grand" hotel if I was in NY for pleasure.

We picked this hotel because of its proximity to Soho shopping, and we were not disappointed. The location was perfect. The staff was fantastic; we received a warm welcome every time we returned to the hotel, and they were always eager to help hail a taxi and to arrange transportation to the airport. The room was clean, comfortable, and the excellent air conditioning meant we always returned to a nice frosty room, which was great after some rather vigorous walking in the warm weather.

As noted in some other reviews, there was a small gap under the door of our room, which allowed for some noticeable noise from the bar downstairs, even though we were on the 8th floor. However, things seemed to quiet down in the early morning hours, and it was basically completely silent downstairs by 2am. This noise actually didn't bother me or my partner - it was mostly just the white noise of lots of conversation.

Our room was also close to the elevator, and we could hear a dull hum every time the elevator moved. This sound did bother my partner at first, but he eventually got used to it. If this might be an issue you could probably ask for a room further from the elevator. We didn't find it bothersome enough to change rooms, though.

So if you're a light sleeper and might want to go to bed early, just be aware of the possible noise. It wasn't an issue for us, and the service and the location are perfect, so we will most likely stay at this hotel again in the future.

Room Tip: In our 8th floor room near the elevator, we could hear a dull hum every time the elevator moved. If...

My husband and I stayed at the Tribeca Grand for ten days in September and we feel we have found a home in NYC. This is undoubtedly the best hotel experience we have had in the city. With respect to location, the hotel could not be better placed. It is a 5 minute walk from Tribeca restaurants, Soho shops and the river promenade on West St. A subway stop is one block away, ensuring easy access to the rest of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Genuine Chinatown restaurants beckon nearby. I felt I was in the center of the world. With respect to service, I give the hotel an A++. It was as though our needs were met before we even realized what they were. A complimentary cheese plate surprised us in the room one night, lobby workers were able to answer our complicated questions about New York, and the cleaning staff was supremely gracious and discreet. I loved the fact that there were three complimentary newspapers available every day to all guests (I am now hooked on the Financial Times)! With respect to decor, the central atrium gives the hotel a spacious feel. The sofas in the bar/ restaurant area are fantastically inviting, either for laptop work with a cappuccino or a drink with a book or friends. Oh, and did I mention the fantastic food, with 24 hour gourmet room service, as well as the great people watching (fun even for us from Miami). Finally, I want to add that my husband and I are difficult hotel guests because we require numerous electrical outlets for multiple laptops, i-pads, cell phones. It is one of the first things we check for in a room, and Tribeca Grand even had outlets to spare!
Bravo to the staff of Tribeca Grand. We will be back!

Stayed here for Labor Day weekend- great price for the value of the rooms and hotel. Very friendly staff and helpful arranging transportation and restaurant recommendations. Subway stop 2 blocks away on canal st to uptown and lots of shopping within walking distance in SoHo! The free champagne at check-in and 2 free drinks at the hotel bar definitely made my day! If you like nightlife, the speakeasy lounge bar downstairs was worth checking out!

A friend and I booked a room online shortly before arriving. We love lower Manhattan and this location is great. The hotel had not received our reservation, but could not have been more accommodating. We enjoyed some complimentary champagne while waiting and they were very quick about getting us in to a room. Stick around for the live jazz during Sunday brunch.

Tribeca Grand was the spot for our newborn son's first trip to New York. We were visiting some friends who lived in the neighborhood so the location was great. My wife and I were nervous with it being our first trip with a new baby but Sal and the whole guest services team took great care of us. They accommodated a couple of special requests and worked hard to make our first trip with a newborn as easy as possible. We had a great trip……the hotel was awesome, and the staff was baby friendly and very helpful.
