First of all, they will greet you in French. Don't worry; they expect you to switch to English. If you are REALLY fluent in French, you will find out some of the front desk staff are not. But I love the illusion.
The hotel is goes from 44 to 45th streets between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. It is quiet. There is none of that New York traffic to keep you up if you aren't used to it. You can exit on either 44th or 45th Street.
You should bear in mind the rooms are small (I think it is hard to get a King bed; most of them are Queens). The bathroom door is hinged on both sides and cut down the middle. Looks cute, but you will figure out a full door would just not work.
The bathrooms are huge. There is a tub and separate shower. If you need an illuminated makeup mirror, they have one. Some rooms have really fancy showers with more nozzles than the space shuttle has thrusters.
If you have an option to upgrade to a larger room, I would personally take it.
The restaurant is very nice. Because they are French, they do the bread well. The croissants are authentic and not overly sweet. They have small baguettes.... You will like the food.
If there is an issue about anything, bring it to their attention. They will bend over backwards to fix it. They are very accommodating.
