“Love this location and love the Conrad!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2014

This hotel is fabulous especially for families! Lots of room for a family to spread out, wonderful service, great lower Manhattan location. I contacted the hotel via their concierge app a couple of days in advance to request a hudson river view (get it if you can!) on a high floor and someone called me back immediately. Note... You can't have a river view if you need double beds. In a relatively quiet area of NYC, free water and espresso machine in the room, turndown service, awesome shower and walking distance Shake Shack and all the sites in lower Manhattan (and easy to get a taxi and short walk to the subway)... would highly recommend!

I was fortunate to experience the Conrad for one night since my boyfriend was working at an event in the hotel. In NYC, I've stayed at The Roosevelt, Crown Plaza Times Square, Sheraton New York and Westin Times Square. The Conrad had one of the best rooms I've ever experienced in NYC or anywhere else, except the view was dull. I've had great views elsewhere where the room quality didn't measure up as well. Conrad’s room described with a “city view” may be unremarkable. If you book a river view, keep in mind that it may be a partial river view. You may want to request a full river view during booking, or at check in. This hotel seems to be a hotspot for special occasions, so these things may matter.

The room we stayed in was a Superior Suite. I think any room in the hotel is going to be bigger and more comfortable than most standard hotel rooms in the city, mostly due to the fact that all rooms are suites, and are nicely designed. The room was impressive, due to many of the details. The layout was harmonious, bed was comfortable, lighting was very pleasing, and the walk in shower was super, super luxurious. I loved the rainfall shower head and the toilet being in a separate room. The lobby is very unique with an air of grandness. Towering, geometrical sculptures hanging from the ceiling. The gift shop is really nice, I was really impressed by it.

I didn’t have any problem with noise except the fact we were in a connecting room and I could hear the guest next door clearing his throat. No soundproofing which I’ve found to be the case in most hotels. Hotels should spend less on the lobby and more on soundproofing. There is a stocked fridge, but it forbids you to place any of your own stuff in the fridge. If you want that luxury, they will deliver a fridge to you and charge you for it. Keyed elevator. I didn’t eat in the restaurant and my only contact with the staff was calling for a late check out before leaving, which all went very well.

The hotel is located in the Battery Park City section of Manhattan, which is very different from the rest of the city. The hotel is far from most attractions, but being in this location has some advantages. The hotel is adjacent to Rockefeller Park along the Hudson River, which is a nice park, offering sunset views. If you visit late Nov. to mid-April, they fence the grassy fields, so it’s not so nice then. I have never seen a homeless person in the area. NYC feels very congested in a lot of areas that are popular to visit, and hotels there are likely to have more noise, traffic and smaller rooms. That is usually the compromise in any big city in a good location. It’s takes about 10 minutes to walk to the nearest subway, which is the 1/2/3 line at Chambers and Hudson. Whole Foods is about a 5 min. walk. Subway map and schedule info: http://web.mta.info/maps/submap.html (Tip: always check for schedule changes on the weekends.)

The hotel is in the same building as a movie theater, and a good barbeque restaurant Blue Smoke. If you want to go to restaurants within walking distance, Tribeca has some great choices, and more variety than Battery Park. Bubby's is one that has good American food to suit many tastes, with high quality ingredients, which is about a 15 min. walk.

I do not like the stress and the hustle of central Manhattan, so this time i choose the lower west side which was a superb choise
Nice, new hotel, very nice design of the lobby, large clean rooms with separate sitting area, 2 tv's very modern and classy
would definitely go back again

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the water

This hotel was beautiful and quiet but near enough to the action. The room was clean and elegant with an unusual style. Very comfortable bed and fabulous hot shower. This hotel did not skimp on any amenities

Stay at this hotel In March. Rooms are absolutely lovely, modern, bright, and well laid out. Had a superior room, and was upgraded as a gold from a deluxe room. breakfast was good, and something for everyone off the HHonours menu. Staff at all time were pleasant, and if their was anything they could do for me they were at my service to get it done. Had a great few days here, and look forward to returning soon.

For a family vacation, location was a little different in Battery City Park. However, it couldn't have worked out better. Citi-Bike station was right next door. Ess-A-Bagel, Harry's Italian, and ShakeShack were also very close.
