Designed for comfort, relaxation and the enjoyment of food, drinks and conversation, the 55-seat dining room and 15-seat bar/lounge reflects modern India with a nod to cultural traditions and motifs. Guests may also enjoy a seven-course Chef's Tasting Menu (also a Chef's Vegetarian Tasting Menu) and bar snacks, as well as a thoughtful list of spice-friendly wines, handcrafted cocktails and beers. "Tulsi" (pronounced TOOL-see) means divine basil.

“Perfection in a beautiful setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

Stumbled upon this restaurant and couldn't be happier or more enthusiastic.Warm subtle service and truly beautiful wonderful food.Sweet and sour cauliflower may be the best prep of that vegetable I have ever had.All levels of heat available, all types of food available delicately yet wonderfully seasoned.I cannot wait to return.Indian food is not really a favorite of mine yet with Tulsi,I am a convert.Bravo to the chef and staff

“Amazing Indian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Tulsi is a Michelin Star rated Indian Restaurant in NYC. And after going their for my birthday dinner, I know why it is Michelin Star rated. The ambiance is clean, soft colors, very warm and inviting. Along the walls are tables that are surrounded by drapes, giving you and your dinner party privacy. The staff is plentiful, and constantly waiting on you. The food is amazing. I've had my share of indian food, and let me tell you, the butter chicken is to die for, very rich and creamy. The pistachio chicken is a unique dish you don't find in any other indian restaurant. Its made with a thick pistachio gravy with quinoa. The highlight of the evening is the, melt in your mouth Lamb Chops, prepared by famous tandoor chef, Hemant Mathur. The deserts are also amazing. They are prepared by Chef Mathur's wife, who owns her own bakery, Bittersweet NYC. The shahi tukra (indian bread pudding), is amazing, its cooked in indian butter(ghee), which gives the desert a rich buttery taste.

“Delicious food and great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

This restaurant was a pleasant treat as we were greeted by friendly staff and served superb food. All the dishes were tasty and not oily (as some Indian dishes tend to be prepared). May I recommend to Tandoori mushrooms, Paneer Kunden Kalia, Seafood Curry and the Rosemary & Garlic naan bread to dip into the curry dishes. Our dinner plates were cleaned with the naan!

“Not the best experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013 via mobile

We booked this restaurant for an after- show dinner. The welcome was not the best, the place was ice- cold ,the chef not in the kitchen ,but full time at the bar.We have a lot of positive experiences with indian food ,but how this restaurant managed to get a Michelin star with the average quality food they serve is beyond my understanding.
