“Mycket bra!!, Marcus Samuelsson!! Memorable meal!”

Mycket Bra!! ("very good" in Swedish)

We dined at two well known restaurants while in NYC: Red Rooster and Balthazar. Red Rooster surpassed Balthazar by a long shot.

Red Rooster ambiance, service and food was very good. Red Rooster host and wait staff were engaging and happy to help. The meal - we ordered the house specialty "Yard Bird" - was excellent. The "bird" is very crisp outside, moist inside and served with a really nice house-made hot sauce and pickles! It all worked very well together. We will return and recommend Red Rooster to anyone visiting NYC.

“Harlem's Tourist Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

The comfort food here is excellent. Might be the best fried chicken I ever had. This place is not the first stop for locals, but I am a local and I very much enjoyed it.

“Everything tasty and perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Third or fourth visit here. everything was tasty and perfect. Many of the items are the same as last year, no big deal I suppose. Loved the crab cocktail, the goat meat appetizer and the blackened catfish, soooooooooooooooooo good. Nice Obamatini cocktail and selection of beers; the music on that Tuesday night was very good, makes for a loud evening, what can you do? the waitstaff were pleasant and smiling and efficient and even the manager came up to introduce himself, a nice touch. My friend charles visiting for the first time said he'd definitely be back....
I once had brunch here and liked it,too.

“Overhyped Restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

This is currently 'the celebrity restaurant' in Harlem. There is a good atmosphere but unfortunately the food is not in the same category. I would suggest this is a lunch/brunch venue but not somewhere for a special dinner. There are a lot of tourists and this is probably why they get away with mediocre food. The staff were pleasant and did take note when I complained about my meal but overall it was disappointing. Convenient for the subway.

“Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013 via mobile

We loved this restaurant. The atmosphere was fantastic. There was live jazz playing all night. The decor was interesting and the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, attentive and efficient. The food was fantastic. We had a tandoori salmon with cauliflower mash and fried yard bird and mash - and oh that mash and the sauce for the chicken were divine! This restaurant is a must if you like great food, a great experience and having a fun night. Highly recommend!
