“Fantastic Food and Overall Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

So this restaurant came up under the Groupon Michelin Star Mondays, and I got a decent time slot and 30% off the entire order. I don't generally like Indian food, but I figured I would set up a romantic dinner at a reasonably priced high-end restaurant. So glad I did! Everything here was incredible. We added a decent bottle of red wine and had a phenomenal, over the top evening. Wait staff is incredibly helpful. Can't say enough positive things about this place, and can't wait to return.

“Beware of lunch. Is this an overrated place?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

A Michelin starred restaurant should be perfect. The fixed price lunch seemed a good way of checking what was on offer - at a quiet time of after 1pm on a weekday. Now, while the quality of the food and taste were fine, the size of the portions for each course was absolutely tiny - even by British standards. The starter barely covered the bottom of a plate and was more like an amuse-bouche; the main course of a shrimp curry had just three shrimps and a bowl of rice that rapidly went cold; the dessert of a passion fruit mousse was perhaps an inch square. The meal was c$35 and beer was $8. The Manager told me without apology that if they had known I was hungry I would have been offered the a la carte menu, and that fixed price lunches in NY always had small portions. Really? I should have kept to Murray Hill and the Asian restaurants there which provide more than enough food at lunchtimes at a keener fixed price. This is the only restaurant that left me still hungry.

“Best ever Indian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

Just so full of flavour and style with a true reflection of the intended cuisine. Going down to the restaurant seating gives it a nice feel.

“Absolutely outstanding; real Indian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

A couple of things you should know; the Memsahib spent a chunk of her childhood in India and so knows a thing or two about Indian food; and we eat a lot of good Indian food at home and in restaurants all over the world but especially in London. This was one of the best Indian restaurant meals we have ever eaten.

It's not cheap - but it is really good quality. The bar is good and Hemant took great care of us (a little less ice in the cocktails please - but then we are Brits!). The most important thing about the food is that you can taste the individual spices in each dish; they are carefully prepared and it's not just a melange that all tastes the same.

Eggplant Chaat and Tandoori Octopus to start - both excellent. Goat Patiala and Lamb Kolhapuri had the Memsahib in raptures. The goat was tender and really tasty; the Lamb spicy and with just the right kick. Yellow Daal, with green chilli, also spiced up the heat a little; we had lovely Bhutanese rice and the breads were just right - perfect for using ones fingers. Delicious homemade kulfi to calm everything down afterwards.

A marvellous meal - perhaps not as good as Rasoi Vineet Bahtia, but this is real Indian food, not crossover.

“Spice and everything nice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013 via mobile

The drinks were amazing. The flavor combinations were mixed with such precision. You can not get these drinks anywhere else. The unique and distinct taste of each was something I have never experienced before.

The food, well, what do you expect from a Michelin Star restaurant?! If you are new to Indian food make sure to provide your preference on the level of spice. Some dishes are a bit hotter than you might expect. Also, branch out! I know that Masala is delicious. However, there are so many other dishes that will provide you with a unique exploration of flavors.

Enjoy!
