“Delicious Mediterranean food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

Tried this place for lunch and enjoyed the unique food choices on the menu. We had the hummus and pita bread, meat cigar appetizer, a chicken and lamb entree and the blueberry cake (which was more than enough for three people!). Everything was delicious! There are so many choices on the menu that we are looking forward to going back to try something new.

“Interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

Interesting food. We had the mezzo which allowed us to try a selection of hot and cold dishes. We had hummus, pitta bread, taboleh, felafel, baba ganoush and a myriad of other dishes. I love meals which my husband and I can share and I also enjoy trying lots of different tastes so the mezzo was perfect for us. The food was well made and it was a nice atmosphere. I was happy as a vegetarian with the choice of food.

“A wonderful treat—different, delicious, a cut above!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

Six of us, including a couple of very picky eaters, went to Gazala's for an early dinner, shared everything, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Gazala's Platter is a delicious assortment of nine hot and cold dishes, including salads, eggplant, and crispy meat "cigars" that particularly pleased when dipped in the Lebanee. I wish I could recall the name of the day's special appetizer, a perfectly prepared turnover in flaky dough, freshly baked, and filled with spinach and cheese. After gorging ourselves, the waitress kindly warned us that the big plates really are just that, big. We split three—and eggplant, Middle Eastern style, layered with cheese, a lam kebab, and a crisp whole red snapper. Of the three, the fish definitely got the highest marks, followed by the eggplant. The lamb was not quite as juicy or flavorful as it should have been, but still not bad. The pita is an authentic Druze style, single layer, thin and soft—perfect for dipping. For dessert, we shared a kenafi (yum) and a dessert special. Service was attentive and appropriate, ambience is lovely—but it definitely gets noisy. If you're going with a group, think about requesting one of the tables in the small dining area.

“Delicious, interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

Gazala's is probably my favorite neighborhood restaurant -- the food is delicious, wonderfully spiced, interesting flavors. The atmosphere is very nice; the restaurant can get a bit noisy, but it is not unusual for NYC restaurants. I highly recommend Gazala's -- everyone who I have taken there has also raved about it.
