Description: The Wheeltapper celebrates the best of a traditional Irish pub, offering contemporary food and drink in an informal atmosphere. Together with the year-round outdoor Patio, this restaurant and bar is the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch, dinner, or cocktails. As fitting for a pub so close to Grand Central Terminal, the Wheeltapper's design includes authentic railroad artifacts and memorabilia from the turn of the century. Cozy and warm, the Wheeltapper's two bars, front and back, are comprised of quaint nooks for semi-private dining or drinking, and connected by the Carriage, a passage that closely resembles a classic railroad dining car. A fireplace warms up the back bar in cold weather. A door takes you from the back bar out to the Patio, a 2,200 square foot outdoor garden wit seating for 48 people and plenty of room to stand and mingle. This unique space is covered with a retractable awning and heated in winter, allowing it to stay open year-round.

“Get pub, nice crowd, buzzy and fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

liked the fact it was popular with plenty of comings and goings all day long. Fun at any time. Drink not cheap but the crowd was nice and really nice food available at reasonable prices

“A Fine Irish pub with the neatest outside venue (unless it gets too cold)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

Right (actually to the left) attached to the Fitzpatrick Hotel (fabulous hotel) you can enjoy a fine night out with great service and food only a stone's throw from GCS!!

If the weather is reasonable, the outside venue is very interesting and comes with the great waiters and Heating from above (they have a moveable cover also in case of rain or snow) not unlike fine places we've been in Europe. Gotta go- fish and chips remind me of my early seafaring years!!!

Love it!
