“Home Cooked Italian!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

From the Starters to the Dessert, this meal was great! The pasta was tender and the white clam sauce was amazing! The pesto pizza as well as the fish we ordered was tops as well. You can't go wrong with this menu, especially if you like homestyle italian and large portions.

“Dependable Consistently Good Italian Food At Both Locations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

I've been eating at one or the other Coppola's locations ( this one and the UWS 79th St Branch) for years now. When I visit NYC I almost always meet one of my close friends here. With all the choices in NY for Italian we pick Coppola's because we know we will be well fed at reasonable prices and the atmosphere , especially in the 3rd Ave location is a great place to relax and catch up for a few hours.
The grilled calamari appetizer is fantastic as a starter. This most recent trip we both had a rigatoni special with Bragiole , meatballs and sausage that was delicious. Huge portions that neither of us could finish but the waiter had warned us that this was a "big" dish.
Normally I get the veal but everything I've had here over the years has been very good. In nice weather they have a patio for outdoor dining and people watching on 3rd Ave. The Upper West Side location is a bit more cramped for space but the food is the same at both locations.

“Friendly local Italian”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013 via mobile

TripAdvisor seem to be confused about the location of Coppolas. We went to the restaurant on 27th in Midtown. Food was delicious home cooked Italian, big portions of course. House salad followed by meatball ragu with rigatoni , couldn't manage dessert. Great service too and reasonable prices too. The restaurant has done a good job in recruiting all the concierges in the local hotels to recommend them. We gladly took up the offer of 15 percent discount.

“great quality of food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013 via mobile

Negatives first, this is not the cheapest place in the area, service was great but slightly formal andalongside the music choice gave a slightly stuffy feel. There want huge choice for vegetarians, but as an ex-meat eater done of the Mains looked great and you can usually tell a good Italian when its brave enough to serve great meat/fish with well prepared veg.

the only negative with the food was that they brought some warm bread abd olive oil, but rather than being fresh-warm it has been toasted and was thus a little dry, iwould have been happy with cold good quLity bread.

The mrs had spinach ravioli which was pretty amazing to be honest. I had pasta and veggies in a tomato sauce, which was a subtle blend of flavours that really allowed the vegetables to come out from the sauce, with the button mushrooms giving a sort of beautiful woody undertone to the whole dish.
Portion size was great, just right for full without being greedy.

Dessert was amazing. Ricotta cheescake and pecan pie, big portions but a real treat.

“Had potential but not a great experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

I had dinner here a few nights a go. First impressions were good with a nice seating area and opened glass at the front. However I made the mistake of choosing a pizza rather than one of the specialities (the argument in my head was that everything on the menu should be special enough!). The pizza wasn't great and at $19 wasn't the cheapest one in the area. What made the experience worse were the waiter who were all stood around my table watching me eat for the duration of my meal. Apparently they had nothing to do but it was a little off putting. I should say that the table next to me ordered oysters and they did look really good, so maybe it was a bad choice on my part.
