Description: Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian brings his vision of a contemporary New York grand cafe to life at The National Bar & Dining Rooms. Housed in the same 1927 Emery Roth-designed building as The Benjamin Hotel, The National's all-occasion modern bistro offerings satiate guests from breakfast through late night. Modeled after the celebrated grand cafes in Europe, The National is both residential and metropolitan in design and offers thoughtful details such as antiqued mirrors, a bronze spiral staircase, distressed peacock blue and chocolate leather banquettes, classic marble table tops, and black and white glazed-tile flooring. Each Sunday evening from 6pm to 10pm, The National features a lineup of New York City bands performing an array of musical selections such as classic jazz, funk, blues, and more.

“Great Brunch at The National”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

This restaurant exceeded my expectations. We had a large family brunch gathering here. There 14 people, including older children. The brunch menu selections were so good, especially pancakes, omlettes, and an eggs benedict, that was made with some less traditional ingredients, including pork that was speical. I tasted someone else's and it was awesome. The service was nothing short of spectacular. I think our waiter gave us extra attention, and he comped us a few desserts that were incredible. The beginning of the brunch included fruit salad served family style for the table. I had a bacon and cheddar cheese omlette which was perfect and came with yummy roasted potatoes, and toast that was fresh bread. I didn't taste all the delicious looking desserts, except the sorbet, which was outstanding. Everyone at the table loved the desserts. This is a perfect spot for brunch, and I would suggest making a reservation even with a smaller group - It is worth it!!

“Delish! No complaints on the food but bring a sweater.”

While in New York we decided to try "The national" Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian restaurant. Four of us were staying at the Waldorf so just a couple blocks away we ventured. We were freezing when we got there. The hostess said she would check the temperature and adjust it. After another request she told us it was 65 degrees in there. Brrr. She adjusted it and after that everything was perfect. The waiter and staff was on spot. We ordered a lot of different appetizer. The roasted Brussels sprouts were the best I ever had. We actually ordered another order they were so good. We had 2 bottles of wine and walked out very happy. Good upscale restaurant but laid back atmosphere.

Nice atmosphere and good food. Service was so-so this time and grits cold...not good for these southern ladies. Have had better here before.

“This restaurant is amazing.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

Very good atmoshere. I tried the ribs which were very good for a dry rub rib with Bar-B-Que sauce added over the top. The salmon over rice was very good as well, not dry like some fish I have had at other places. And as for the drink you have got to try The National Muhl. You will never want a different drink again. The best drink i have had in years served in an ice cold copper cup.

“Fantastic!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

The National was a fantastic restaurant. I was very happy with the service and the food. Food was delicious. I also enjoyed the drinks they had to offer especially "The National Mule"! It was a nifty great drink after a long day of walking in NYC! Meatballs were excellent and so was the Octopus! The Bar is very casual and laid back and it's a great vibe of NYC when you see all the buisness people in suits having a drink after work. Loved it, hands down great restaurant!
