“great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

The St. Giles is a perfectly adequate hotel. If you don't mind walking a few blocks, it's convenient to the theater district. It was clean, the staff were helpful, and reasonably priced. The outside looks rather austere but the room was fine. We had a view of an inner courtyard; i.e., no view but we were there to do things not look out the window.

Booked this hotel via Hotwire so received a great rate. Average hotel would not call it four stars. Rooms were a little worn. However, for the price and location I have no real complaints. Front desk was helpful. Two blocks from grand central. A short walk down Lexington to an array of Indian restaurants and many other options in the immediate area. Overall a satisfactory stay.

The room in the St. Giles - the Court hotel was part of my flight package from Berlin-Boston-New York-Berlin. I was given a junior suite, two spacious rooms in total, with queen size bed (extremely comfortable) and flatscreen TVs in each room, and a well-sized bathroom with shower/bathtub. As a single traveller I am used to usually being given the smallest and dingiest rooms available, what a difference here. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Also, the location on E 39th Street/Lexington Av just a 10 minute walk from Grand Central Station is very convenient. All in all, an experience I will definitely repeat in the foreseeable future. Thank you for making my 3.5 day stay in NYC such a pleasant one.

I am a transplanted New Yorker now in the suburbs. I am a very tough critic of hotels, but this one lived up to its review. Reservations (thank you Daniel!) help desk was helpful and polite (sometimes a rare commodity in New York) and I was checked in very quickly, which was very appreciated. The rooms are modern and clean and the hotel was less noisy than I expected. The proximity to GCT is extremely useful for me. They held my bag after I checked out--- very nice not to have to lug it all over through my shopping, and it was retrieved quickly upon my return. Every staff person I met was gracious and met me with a smile. I will definately stay again. The prices are reasonable (by NY standards). Thank You to The Court!

We've just returned from a four night trip to NY and have nothing but praise for this hotel. I contacted them in advance as the trip was for a special occasion and they responded instantly. When we arrived they gave us a free upgrade and complimentary wine and the service was excellent throughout. We had a gorgeous view of the Chrysler building which was stunning. I read beforehand that some of the comments were that the hotel was a little dated, and whilst that is maybe true, the hotel makes up for that in service and location. The rooms are spacious and you're a 2min walk to grand central station. The bar at Pod 39, just down the same road, is also really good for a drink. The hotel isn't cheap, but then nowhere is in NY. Everything was clean and all the staff were polite and courteous. Strongly recommend and when we return to NY we'll stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Chrysler building.

Nothing to rave about, but also no disasters. With spending most of our time outside the hotel, we weren't too fussed about e.g. levels of service at the hotel. 4 stars might be overrated, but we had a room right at the top with a view on Empire State Building, so quite enjoyable in the mornings/nights.

My wife and I celebrated our 12 year anniversary in mid October and some friends convinced us to join them for a trip to NYC. Our friends suggested The Court after doing some research, we booked when they did, but my wife and I weren't sure what to expect.
We arrived early, so we checked our bags and hit the town. Front desk called us around 2pm and said we were all set.
On the elevator ride up to our room, our friends cautioned us that the rooms will probably be quite small, but when we opened our door, we were greeted with an upgraded suite! King-size bedroom + lounge with a huge window.
Roses, chilled champagne, soft music playing and a very nice card from the manager wishing us a happy anniversary. We were quite happy already, and then we opened a door off the bedroom and discovered a large deck with a commanding view of the Chrysler building a few blocks north. Just gorgeous.
As for amenities, the room had a large walk-in closet with dresser and safe, small but nice bathroom with good water-pressure. Black-out curtains in the bedrooms, very nice tv and sound systems in both the bedroom and the lounge, as well as a mini-fridge.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the neighbourhood was quite nice. A nice bonus was having a convenience store right across the corner.
Loved it, and the wife had the best weekend of the year.
Ask for room 1503!
