“very convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Very well located for 5th Avenue, Central Park, Times Sq, Bloomingdales, Tiffany’s, Abercrombie & Fitch etc and everything really is very nearby!
We chose a slightly larger room but although the room was bigger the actual bed was still small by NYC/USA standards! That said, the room was well appointed (TV, fridge, microwave, desk & chair etc) and very comfortable. The shower in the bathroom was great, with good toiletries too. Staff were helpful and volunteered to look after our luggage as we’d got off the QM2, so had arrived about 11am…. Check out was easy and smooth, even though it was 4am and the car we’d asked them to arrange, to take us to the airport, was there early in fact. So very pleased all round and would stay again the next time were in NYC!
The terrace bar next door that they recommend is worth visiting for the view alone and the rare fact that you can actually sit outside in New York and enjoy a cocktail – weather permitting!

The Jewel is a small boutique hotel between 5th and 6th Avenues, mid-town. It's convenient to Times Square, Fifth Ave. shopping, and central park, as well as various subway lines and taxi stands. The rooms are small but use their space so efficiently, they seem spacious. Beautifully appointed bathrooms; comfortable surroundings; pleasant and helpful staff; perfect location make this a very good choice in Manhattan.

Room Tip: Facing the street gives you more light.

We enjoyed our trip to NY. The Jewel is in a great location for seeing all the sites. Our room was average but very clean. We found the front desk people were not as helpful as they could have been which surprised us after reading the other reviews.

Absolutely loved this hotel, we were staying in Vegas prior to our stay and were finding it hard to choose a NY hotel at good value and in a good location. This hotel was walking distance to everything - really great location. The room we booked was quite small but everything that we needed, very clean and very modern. The hotel also had great facilities and staff were very welcoming and nice. They even helped us book transport for our return flight.
We stayed in November so it was very cold and after going to one of the football games came home one night and visited the burger bar facing the hotel - nice cocktails and burgers which was great :).
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Where do I start? Ok, cons: I don't/can't live here...

Pros: Location, location, location. Next to 30Rock, steps from times square, restaurants, etc... walk any direction from the door of the hotel and you'll find something great.
The Staff: The receptionist warmly welcomed us and had our keys within a matter of minutes after describing all the amenities.
The rooms are a bit small but it's NYC... Queen bed is comfortable but not fantastic (I believe it's two twin beds set together) Rooms are very modern, clean, Great views, nice amenities for those who need connectivity. Plugs abound, wifi is quick and free, lots of storage, and cords to attach anything to the LCD TV.
Anything you need, they have or can get. iPads to borrow, cold filtered bottled water, etc... even the thermostat is right next to the bed for ease of use when you want to change it in the middle of the night! Rooms are fairly quiet and the street outside isn't too busy. Good sound proofing.

Will absolutely stay here again and again!

The location is terrific, right in the heart of everything. The rooms are beautiful. The staff is incredible--warm, welcoming and very friendly! I couldn't ask for anything more. The free bottled water is a great perk.

Spent August 26 to August 29 at the Jewel via Priceline. We were there to see some Broadway plays so, needless to say, the location was fabulous. But beyond that, the people at the check-in desk (particularly Brandy and Sandy) couldn't have been better to us. As I have some health issues, they placed us in a room that really met my needs including having a small kitchenette. We got the extra pillows and anything else we needed for the room provided with no questions asked. The extras like the fitness area, free coffee and cappuccino machine, fresh bottled water on every floor were absolutely great. At checkout I mentioned that, in a world where airlines are charging for every little extra, it was wonderful to see a hotel that still valued wonderful service and accommodating their customers . We would definitely go back.
