“Great location, good rooms, good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

As in the title, the hotel indeed faces Rockefeller Center, and is minutes' walking from all the large chain-stores on Fifth Ave. The front desk is friendly, helpful, and efficient. There are two elevators, but if you are assigned to the 15th floor, you must take the elevator to the 14th floor, then transfer to another elevator to go up one more floor. The room is New York-ish small, but well equipped and comfortable, and most importantly, quiet at night. There is not a restaurant in the hotel but there are restaurants linked to the hotel as well as plenty of breakfast and dining options in the concourse of Rockefeller Center. Only downside is that because of the location, there is no grocery store in the immediate area if someone wants to pick up something. In summary, great value in a great location, especially if on holiday in NYC.

Room Tip: Avoid the 15th floor because of the need for a second elevator.

The location was great, very close to the subway, an easy walk to central park and Times Square and the price at which I scored this room was unbelievable. I was not doubtful because I had already read many good reviews and it was a great experience. I did not want to leave. I would most certainly book this hotel again!

Chose this hotel for our first trip to NY. It was the best choice! Staff is very friendly (thank you so much Christina and Iris for your great customer service! Actually everyone was really great, but I didn't get your names. Thank you everyone!).
Everything was so clean! Loved it.

Chose this hotel for my friend's 40th birthday trip to New York. Fantastic hotel, great location, close enough for everywhere that you would want to visit. Staff were very helpful.
Would recommend to anyone visiting New York.

This hotel is a little gem. It's not huge which means no waiting around on elevator for starters.

It was our second time staying here and I have to admit it didn't live up to our first stay.

Our room was smaller, which wasn't much of an issues but we were expecting a fridge again as it was advertised with the room when we booked it.

The room was pretty clean, altho coffee stain on the carpet - which ok, not the end of the world. We did find a sock that didn't belong to us which was a little off putting.

Beds are super comfortable and the pillows are amazing. It's not on a nosey street so you can sleep soundly, yet the location is brilliant - just off fifth avenue and a stones through from the Rockefeller and subway.

We did feel like there were quite a few hidden charges, so be careful here. We ended up playin more than we had first aggreed to. I think they need to be a bit more up front from the start on way taxes and charges are expected on top of the booking fee.

Staff were nice enough, helpful and friendly.

The amenities on the second floor are great. Internet usage, coffee machine, tv communal area and printer. We found it great for chilling out once we had checke out and had time to wait to go back to the airport (was way to hot outside to roam around for hours)

All in all, it's a nice hotel in manhatten. I wouldn't complain.

6 nights at this hotel was a great way to start our first visit to NYC. One night in a small double, then 5 in a 1 bed/studio (which had 2 TVs, kitchenette, a sofa and dining table/desk). It was nice to be able to spread out and make our own breakfasts. The rooms are quite compact but ours was a similar size to a very expensive 1 bed East Village apartment we visited. Book well in advance if you are staying for more than a couple of nights to give you more chance of securing the room you want. I used booking.com and the small room ended up more expensive than the 1 bedder which was discounted because I stayed more than 4 nights. We found the beds extremely comfortable. Our room had no view but the plus side of this was no street noise. Walking home one night at 2am, workmen were jack hammering in the street. We heard nothing! Great subway access, Bills Burgers across the street was terrific for pre/post theatre drinks. Duane Reade down the street and the fantastic Rock Plaza right out the door. No safe in the room but they do have safes to use, just ask at reception. Gym and laundry facilities appreciated but quite basic. One front loader washing machine and a dryer. A bit tricky finding them available. Great to have the water, espresso, wifi, printer. Lounge would be very useful if travelling with friends or family.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a night after seeing a show in the city. I was really blown away with everything this hotel has to offer, from the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms and the fantastic location of the hotel. The hotel is located right in the middle of Rockefeller Center, surrounded by wonderful shops and restaurants. The staff is really helpful too! Before we had to checkout and go home, my girlfriend and I wanted to explore the city. Christina, who works at the front desk was really friendly and helped give us some great things to check out in the city before heading home. Definitely will be coming back here!

Thanks Jewel Hotel!!
