“A really good hotel in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

The Pearl is in a truly great location, pefectly placed for sight seeing and taking in a show or two. The reception area is welcoming and the small bar/restaurant next door is handy too. We got told it shut at 10.30pm for food but this didn't seem to be the case. The bedroom was really spacious for a New York hotel and we got an upgrade so we had a furnished balcony which made such a difference when we wanted to relax before going out for the evening. The bed was huge and really confortable and the room had a/c which was really good as it was really hot while we were there. The bathroom was well appointed but small. The one thing I did find odd was that the cups in the room were all disposable as were all the plates and cutlery in the breakfast room. It made the experience feel like a cheap fast food place rather than a good quality hotel. When the breakfast area was busy there wasn't enough seating so we didn't bother to eat which was a shame as the breakfast was fine. A continental affair but with lots of fruit and breads to choose from. Finally the staff were friendly on the whole. Would I got back? Yes because of the location and yes if I had a room with a balcony but I hope they look to provide china and metal cutlery soon....

Spent a night here. Staff was very courteous. We were upgraded to a suite which was really nice. Hotel was modern with beautiful decor. Walking distance to broadway and Rockefeller. Breakfast was light but there's plenty to eat in the city.
Hoping to be back soon.

My mom and I recently spent 4 nights at the Pearl. It was a bit more expensive compared to other hotels in the area but well worth it~2 minutes to Times Square, theaters and several restaurants. The accommodations were immaculate and the location could not be beat. I prefer smaller properties with nice amenities and the Pearl exceeded my expectations. We were able to check in early and were upgraded to a larger room. The size of the room was impressive for NYC standards and it was so quiet...we never heard our neighbors or any street noise. We took advantage of the evening wine/cheese hour as well as the continental breakfast (fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels, sweet rolls etc) The hotel also has ice water with lemon in the lobby-a very nice touch after a long day of seeing the sights! I will definitely return to the Pearl.

Room Tip: Don't bother with a room that offers a patio....there doesn't appear to be a view and the do...

My wife and I have just returned from a fantastic stay in New York capped off with a full week at this terrific hotel. I was originally concerned the hotel might be too chic hence being sterile, however it was nothing of the sort, The lobby is bright and airy, the lifts clean and elegant and the room was perfect with a lovely bathroom and comfy bed. All round it was immaculate, it had to be to keep the wife happy!
There was a complementary continental breakfast served till 10 am and it was a nice touch, you could set yourself up for a busy day without it taking up too much of your morning. The hotel also provided complementary wine, strawberries, cheese and biscuit from 4 till 5 pm which usually fitted in nicely having a rest before the nightime activties commenced.
The location was perfect, with theatres on your door step and Times Square just around the corner.
The staff were very pleasant and professional. The only minor niggle was the A/C was a little noisy but very effective.
It certainly lived up to the previous reviews I have read, we will certainly return.

Room Tip: We on the 11th floor, nice and quite (the AC was a little noisy but did a good job)

I took my son to New York for a suprise 18th birthday present and we stayed in The Pearl hotel
The hotel was very clean with spacious rooms and great blackout curtains to hide the morning sun..no interesting views but considering we were a five mins stroll away from Times square it was very quiet and the beds were so comfy....essential after a long day walking around the city
Front desk staff friendly and helpful and lovely touch with the fresh iced lemon water in the foyer
Breakfast was great..yes its plastic plates and cutlery but what they offer is wonderful...all types of bagels, fresh fruit, cereals, yougurts and pastries....really such a variety of choice and a great start to the day..especially to fill up an ever hungry teenager!,
The bathroom products are lovely and we were well supplied with fresh linen and towels and we certainly had noproblems with noisey Air conditionng as per other guest reviews
A great hotel..perhaps not qute 4 star...but a lovely central place to stay

We stayed 4 nights at the Pearl in a Deluxe queen suite with our children. The hotel is located in the heart of the tourist- and theatre district, so if you are ok with crowded streets this is a good "Base camp". The room were clean and ok, with a nice big bathroom (NY standard). The pictures on the hotels web page lies as always, but not too much. A light breakfast included was a surprise and not usual in New York hotels, but do not expect a full breakfast - they basically offer cereal, a toast, a banana and a cup of coffee. The concierge/reception staff were very helpful and gave good advise for easy access and how to get around. Short distance if you want to go for a run in Central Park.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Pearl in May of 2012. The location is perfect for theatre goers and for touring New York with subway stops very nearby. The concierge desk was very helpful and knowledgable. We were delighted to have our room upgraded to a very spacious suite. Complimentary breakfast is good and the hotel bar and restaurant is quiet and friendly. If you are looking for a hotel that is central to Times Square, theaters, restaurants and convenient subway entrances this is the place.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not gace 49th street.
