“GREAT oysters, good music, ok service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

Had a hankering for a beverage and some raw oysters after a long day of meetings. Went in early with a colleague to sit at the bar and it was like we weren't there for a while. Waitress was loudly skyping at a nearby table with a relative, staff was just sort of hanging out behind the bar. First bartender wasn't exactly friendly.

HOWEVER, the drinks were good, the oysters were GREAT, and I liked the jazz.

The restaurant had a nice cozy size too and as a few tables started to fill, the smells wafting from the kitchen were divine.

“All Aboard!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

This was our first visit here, for a late night dinner of small plates. We loved April Bloomfield's gastropub The Spotted Pig, so we had high expectations. Although this place was crowded, each and every staff member was welcoming, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and efficient. It is palpable that everyone is "on board" as a team with the mission of providing patrons with a superb seafood experience.

We were seated at the counter where the oysters were being shucked. I appreciated having a hook under the counter for my purse, but had to hold my winter jacket on my lap, which was a bit uncomfortable. My husband and I shared a number of dishes - I am not that experienced in oysters but really enjoyed the assortment with the various sauces. Our waiter even suggested he hold the Parker House rolls that came with the cold seafood tower to instead serve them alongside a roasted oyster concoction with a warm creamy broth that we had ordered (good move). The escarole salad was a crunchy, anchovy/lemony bit of loveliness. For dessert we split a toasted marshmallow ice cream served over peanut butter shortbread, peanut butter meringue sticks and diced pineapple - it was balanced perfection!

If you just peeked your head into this place you might see that it's crowded and a bit noisy and wonder whether or not you should take the trouble to put your name on the list and wait for a table to eat here. Yes, you should - both the food and the staff are at the top of their game.

“Good oysters and seafood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Went early on a Saturday night and enjoyed a selection of oysters from East Coast and West Coast--delicious. Also spicy shrimp and excellent Parker House rolls. The scene is lively and in a hip area (the restaurant is off the lobby of the Ace Hotel). The staff helped in picking things out, but forgot my beer (not good!) Definitely will go back.

“Great place for after work drinks and apps!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

I just ate here this evening around 6:30. The crowd was a mix of ages, most ordering drinks. Definitely busy and loud. The menu is small and is mostly tapas style. At first, I didn't know what to order because I didn't know what half the stuff was! But, everything we ordered was really good! We split 8 of the east and west raw oysters (some of the best I have ever had), the roasted peanuts, smoked haddock, and the apple salad. Cool place.
