“Amazing food”

Made reservations ahead. Great decor and service. Innovative menu, you must try the pork buns. One block from the Shoreham Hotel. Can't wait to go again and try different things.

“Momofuku..but not.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

Yes, David Chang may own this basement destination but the food, flavors, and menu have moved way beyond his "Vietnamese Asian" style. New chef from Barbados (so I heard) brings a totally new style. Don't get me wrong: the food was great and the service charming. But don't go expecting a Chang Asian menu. Meanwhile the Cod and the Veal were terrific. Lean heavily on your waitperson to explain the ingredients and cooking methodolgy...chances are you'll be surprised. Delightfully so.

“Made me want to go to it's Michelin starred big sister restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

Took a last minute chance in calling up this place to see if we could get a table. Yes lucky to get a reservation in on a Saturday night. I'd picked it out of the Michelin reviews but it was better than expected. The food was really fantastic. I had duck breast for main course and I've never found such perfectly cooked duck (even in some of the better restaurants of France) totally pink but with perfectly crisped skin. Obviously it's foody food so if your looking for big portions this is not the place for you. But looking for excellent tasting and original, this is a winner. Not cheap but then not much is in NYC. Servers have a bit of an attitude but I found it quite fun to watch.

“Food like none other”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

I had the most heavenly meal at Ma Peche during a lunch with several friends. We had the large format menu and the food was like none other. The Lamb was tender, savory, and full of incredible flavors. The Chicken was juicy and wonderful. The sides were so flavorful and unique! I spent hours search the internet for recipes so I could reproduce them at home. The chickpeas were lovely. The iceberg lettuce with chicken skin garnish....incredible. It was a pricey, but worth every incredible culinary penny.

“Unexpected surprise below our hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

We were staying at the Chambers Hotel but didn't come down to eat at Ma Peche until our last day. We read mixed reviews on Trip Advisor and the place appeared to be expensive from the menu displayed in our room upstairs.
The service was friendly and attentive, and the menu was hard to decipher without a little help from our waitress. Every item we ordered was incredibly delicious. The flavor combinations were very unexpected. I can understand, however, how some people can have a bad experience if they order a dish with flavors or ingredients they dislike, especially given the cryptic menu.
My recommendation is to go there with friends, so that a greater variety of dishes is ordered and your chances of running into an unforgettable spoonful are increased. The apple and peanut butter desert was amazing.
