“Nice Hotel, Better than the Hilton in the Financial District”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

Great hotel in the Financial District. Travel to this area a lot and never stay here. But I think it is now my go to hotel. Room was updated, comfortable and cozy. Furnishings were really nice and I was very impressed for a DoubleTree. Definitely nicer than the full service Hilton in the Financial District with a much better value. Doormen very friendly and helpful. Only downfall was very loud construction noise starting at 6am outside of the hotel.

Room Tip: had a room on the backside of the hotel (not the Stone Street side). Was really loud with construct...

The DoubleTree by Hilton New York City - Financial District is located perfectly for business and pleasure in New York. Close to subway and ferry transportation. The room was small but functional and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and comfortable. Our view of the Freedom Tower was fabulous!

The rates are competitive; the "free buffet" is only for certain types of reservations; the elevators (3) are too slow and too few for a hotel of this size; because it's in the financial District, the smaller shops and businesses are closed on weekends; it's not "on the way" to anything, so its more difficult to get a taxi --- but there is a subway stop 2 blocks away.

Worst NYC hotel experience I ever had. Doubletree is supposedly a four star hotel. No way. Room was on small side, not particularly clean. Very noisy at night-- and Iam a New Yorker! Elevator service was inadequate, twice we walked down many flights rather than waiting for an elevator that never came. We came back to hotel at five pm in order to get ready for dinner. We opened the door and there was the maid just starting to clean the room. We tried to get a cab to go to restaurant , but despite the doorman trying very hard , there were no cabs available at the desolate location of hotel. Tried to get help from hotel to fix non-responsive tv. After wating 30 minutes for the promised help to arrive, I disconnected and then reconnected cable box myself. The hotel staff was friendly and tried hard, but I've han better stays in Route 95 motels.

This hotel was perfect while in town for meetings and conveniently located to major offices and a variety of fine dining or quick eats. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the room was spacious and clean.

The room and accommodations are fine no issues. The elevators are slow. But for buisiness in Brooklyn the commute is easy and quick using the subway. Several restraurants within walking distance. And dinner service in the hotel was good. The doorman is always polite an helpful. Checking in was easy.

Very disappointed with a 3 night stay earlier this month. The location of he hotel s not easy to find, and the staff I contacted to find the hotel could not articulate how to get from Stone St to the hotel despite being only a few hundred yards away.

The 'reception' area appears to be a Tradesperson entrance, with a cafe area taking up what could be an inviting area to check in and get a drink etc. The lobby is on level 2, therefore inconvenient for travellers who need to organise something prior to heading out for he days activities.

Rooms are clean, but not spacious. The Direct TV is laughable. It spends more time searching for signal than working. From my experiences of travelling with a young family, this would not at all be suitable.

To be honest, I expect a hotel to be set up for the use of its guests. Here it seemed the guests were an afterthought, a street facing cafe more important than a proper lobby and entrance etc...shame as location has potential.
