“Great Hotel / Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We stayed at the Element Times Square in mid September for 2 nights. From the moment we arrived we felt at home at this hotel, all of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean, well equipped (ie. cooker, dishwasher, fridge etc,,,although as we were only staying 2 nights, we did not get us use them) The breakfast room on both mornings was very busy, so we took our food back to our room. There was a very good selection including juices, tea/coffee, fresh fruit, hot wraps, bagels etc.. The roof terrace is great for photo's especially at sunset, stunning!! The lifts were slow at times, but that's to be expected when the hotel is full. The location is fab, just around the corner from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, with links to the Airports. There's also a great Irish Bar next door (Tir na n'Og). Would highly recommend this hotel. Cannot wait for a return visit. Enjoy!!!

If you are looking for a good value for money hotel where location is key, then this is for you. But it does prend to be a 5 star hotel. It prides itselt on functional and clean.
The best thing after the location is the bed, it's huge, soft and so comfy, which after a long day around the city was most welcome . Some of the previous reviews faulted the lifts, and I have to agree there's one approx 8 rooms on each room and you do have to plan in "waiting" time at peak times. The free breakfast and the all day free tea/coffe save you a small fortune in this expensive city. And although the breakfast room is very busy the staff constantly refill, and the choice was much better than I was expecting. If you are wanting a more relaxed experience we saw a few people use the tray provide in your room to collect your food and take it to your room, or as we found on our last morning the beautiful roof terrace that only 1 other person was using was a quiet oasis.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the city view, we had a view of the Empire State which when lit was a wow moment...

The plus points are the room is clean (the bathroom spotless) and the bed/pillows super comfy. Nice touch having the kitchen area with the filter coffee machine etc. but this and the sofa made quite a spacious room, crowded. Reception staff are okay, but found them quite impersonal - did not get a strong feeling they were interested and they just went through the motions. Having said that, the reception is very busy and small so this may have something to do with it. My hat goes off to the very clever marketing of the "complimentary" breakfast - the dining area is very small for the number of guests coming down for breakfast (constantly busy) so I guess that folk just don't complain when they can't get a seat because they believe the breakfast is complimentary and even if they don't, it would seen churlish to do so. However, the breakfast choice was fine and there were healthy choices too. The complimentary beer/wine and light refreshments between 5 & 7pm Mon-Thur is good and worth going to but, again, very busy. A word of caution: make sure you lock everything valuable in your safe, even Make Up (e.g MAC). Overall, the hotel was fine and suited our holiday but because of a missing item, I felt I could not award anything higher than a 3 star. I would recommend to others with the caveat they keep anything remotely valuable locked up.

We had our honeymoon in NYC and stayed here from Sunday-Friday. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a King Studio with a view, and it looked over times square. We'd been warned all hotels in NYC are small, but this had a full kitchen, very large bathroom, and we never felt cramped. Staff were very accomodating; all needs were promptly taken care of. Our only concerns were that a couple of light switches didn't seem to control anything and some power outlets were dead. Breakfast was OK, most days the signs were wrong for the types of preheated foods. Seating is very limited but we never had to wait to find a seat. Happy hour was great, free drinks are always appreciated. You're close to transit, Times Square, and walking distance to just about any amenity. Elevators take FOREVER in the mornings - please stop putting one on service every day!

We were booked in this hotel by our travel agent as we were to begin a tour from New York for 9 days, we arrived at 1 am in the morning, the receptionist wasn't helpful and originally wasn't able to find our reservation, but after sometime was able too, and we were able to get to bed, but not get any sleep... the noise from the street was so loud that we simply didn't get to sleep... and we had to get up and leave at 5:30 am to get across town to met the tour.. the staff in the morning were the same who checked us in and seemed a bit more sympathetic to us and did get us a breakfast to go.

The room was very small, the bed comfortable, but ultimately what you want is rest and we didn't get that.

We stayed 4 nights at the Element by Westin. It's in a good position for Times Square, Penn Station, the bus depot etc. Room was fine, including fridge and cooking facilities. Impressed by the instant hot water at all times. We had a problem with the sink plug, which was attended to very quickly. Breakfast and evening buffet not up to much, but useful time savers. Staff were pleasant, efficient and helpful. All this let down by appalling lifts, which just would not stop for you. Trying to go down it was generally quicker to catch one going up. With time on my hands one morning, I counted 12 down lifts going past my floor without stopping, before giving up and taking one going up.

We stayed in the Element hotel for 9 nights in September and while not perfect, it suited our purpose and was very economical. We were on the 3rd floor which meant we had the option of using the stairs, so we didn' t have to wait for lifts, but this meant we didn't have a view and the airconditioner was noisy. However, the free wifi was great, there was free coffee and tea 24/7, free breakfast and dinner snacks. The breakfast was sufficient for us, with juice, cereal, yogurt , some fruit, toast and pastries. Our room was modern and well equipped including a spacious bathroom and a kitchenette. It was immaculately clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bus terminal, subway and Times Square are just around the corner. i can recommend this hotel to anyone
seeking a good accommodation in Manhattan and we would stay there again.

Room Tip: Higher for a good view, lower than 4 to have the option of using the stairs ! BUT NOT IN THE CORNER...
