“Great location with free breakfast and wifi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

I found Element after a lot of searching. There are so many hotel in NYC and I knew what I wanted: convenient location (to work), an on-site gym and a fridge (since I'd be staying for a week).
The hotel is very central in the garment district which is unglamourous - close to Times Square, subway entrances and mainline train stations (Penn, Grand Central). The hotel itself is located on 39th street with not much around which keeps it quiet. The room was a good size by NYC standards and included a very comfy bed, kitchen area (fridge, dishwasher, sink, and accompanying dishes/cutlery), TV etc. The bathroom was bright with large shower and large re-fillable eco-sized shampoo and soap dispensers (to go with the eco theme of the hotel). Breakfast was free but I didn't use it once (it did look good as multiple guests seemed to grab some to take back to their rooms).
The gym had enough items to have a decent workout (benches, free weights, machine and cardio). They could add a multipurpose cable machine to compete the package. Service was fine but I only encountered it on check-in and out. Overall, a good find, comfortable, convenient and nice to have wifi and breakfast included in the rate.

Modern and comfortable rooms with virtually a full kitchen in the room. Given that they offer breakfast with one's stay, and, like us, most people tend to be out in the city most of the day, it is hard to think of a time to make use of those kitchen facilities. During the week the hotel offers free appetizers and bear/win, and sInce the appetizers included chicken wings and salad while we were there, some seemed to make a dinner out of it as well. Notably friendly staff made us feel welcome.

Hi norlandnorken,

It was our pleasure to have you with us at the Element and thank you for joining us at breakfast and our "Happy Hour," servings. Delighted to hear that our staff made you feel welcome and that you found your room to be modern and comfortable. Many of our guests on extended stays do find the kitchenette in their rooms to be a great convenience and money saver while in New York. We hope to see you back at the hotel again in the New Year.

Be Well,
Lynn

I cannot find a better place to stay in NYC for great staff, location, exceptional breakfast, nice happy hour and all around customer service. The staff are beyond 5 star-they simply know what it takes to make a guest happy. If you have business in Hells Kitchen-or are going the the Javits Center- look no further. You will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the back side of the hotel or on a higher floor to avoid street noise!

This hotel is literally perfect in our eyes. We both work in the hotel industry and find it very easy to pick faults in everything, the best we could come up with for this place was that some of the tables at breakfast wobble. Complimentary breakfast, refreshments in the lobby, evening happy hour, internet, phonecalls (local) and printing on the Macs in the business centre make this hotel a cut above the rest. The beds are ridiculously comfy resulting in my partner and I going bed hunting when we arrived back to try and find something similar!! We did not use the kitchenette but the full size fridge was very handy and we loved the hot drink maker. Holiday blues does not even begin to assess what we are feeling at the moment and this hotel was a very big part of making our trip amazing, nothing was too much trouble and the staff at reception were always wearing a smile! We intend to come back to NYC as soon as the piggy banks allow and we will without any shadow of a doubt be back at this hotel everytime. Keep up the good work element.

My hubby and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at this fantastic hotel. The location is brilliant and enables you to walk to most of the key tourist places yet not on a main street so noise is not an issue. We were on the 40th floor in room 4005 and we woke every morning to the Empire State through our window. The rooms were clean and well appointed and spacious enough. After reading previous reviews over the time waiting for the lifts we found that if you go for breakfast between 7.30am and 8am, there is not a problem and it's fairly quiet. The food on offer was good apart from all the breakfast rolls had cheese on, which I can't eat but as soon as I asked one of the very helpful staff, one was made up for me without. Every member of staff we spoke too, were also polite, helpful and made you feel like nothing was too much trouble. The roof top terrace is another added bonus and allows you to sit out and look at the gorgeous views of the city. We are already planning on going back for our wedding anniversay in 2015 and at least this time I do not have to spend ages deciding where to stay. There is nowhere else we would rather be.

Room Tip: if your view is more important than a possible wait for the lift, get yourself high up. Def worth it...

Stayed here for 3 nights jan 2013 with the hubby 1st trip to New York. Staff was very helpful from the second we entered the hotel. The room was fab, stayed on the 37th floor and the veiw was just breath taking, facing the hudson river and empire state building. The shower was fab, the bed was amazing have to say the best 3nights sleep I have have had since having my children, wanted to take the bed home with me. Brilliant location for everything at that end of new york. Irish bar next door, friendly staff in there too. Breakfast was lovely too. If I visit new york again will defo stay here again, has everything you need.......and lifts are not that bad.

Room Tip: Defo ask for veiw room front of hotel

We booked the Element on the basis of the reviews and we were not disappointed. We were on the 9th floor on the front and we had no street noise at all. The beds are extremely comfortable and the room size is pretty good for a city centre hotel. Location is great because we walked everywhere and it is easy to get to everything from here. We didn't use the kitchen facilities but it is a great addition to have, although would have preferred a kettle to faffing about with the coffee machine. Lifts do take quite a while at busy times but you soon get to know what times to avoid. I suggest you get to breakfast early because it gets very crowded from about 8.15am onwards.

Hi Riever,

Thank you for your recent stay with us here at the Element NYTS. It was our privilege, pleasure and honor to provide you with the best in hospitality and so glad you enjoyed your "Heavenly Bed" and overall experience with the hotel and it's surrounding area. Maybe next time you visit, we can do something about your "kettle" needs and thank you for adjusting your elevator use after the heavy use and time permitting.

Be Well,
Lynn
