“Good Food but not the Best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013 via mobile

We were impressed with this small Vietnamese restaurant in Lower East Side as it served good vegetarian food. My wife and I are vegetarians and had Poh, noodles and sandwitch. The portions were good and had almost authentic flavours. The service was quick though it had only one waitress.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone staying closeby.

“Good place for a quick snack”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Had some great snacks here the service here can be a hit and miss some days very attentive and some days you get a surly service( yes we were tipping them the 15 to 18% ) that's why found it funny why the service was so up and down

The food was good the overall vibe was good.

“Bun Bo Hue”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2012

After visiting An Choi about a half dozen times, I'm only now moved to write something up after having the Bun Bo Hue.

Everything I've had on the menu here has either been done better by other Vietnamese restaurants in the area or has been done exactly the same way and cheaper somewhere else. The grilled pork has slipped in quality since I started coming and the northern-Vietnamese style cha gio has also gone down in quality. The servings just don't live up to their potential sometimes, and it's a shame because you can tell the ingredients are good and fresh. The pho is really light and delicate and is just not the kind of stuff that's going to kick a hangover, which is what it's famous for in Vietnam.

But that night. Man, that night. The Bun Bo Hue single-handedly earned them another star and if it were my first meal here, I'd have given them five (stars). Sorry in advance - I have to say that the the most authentic things about this place are its name, the decor and that night's meal. I'll keep bringing out-of-towners here for the novelty and because the food is still good *enough*.

“Closed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2011

Picked this out of Zagats and traveled from CT. The place had people inside with a chalkboard sign saying they opened at noon. That's what the website said too. We'd arrived about 11:45 so we wandered around the block and came back 15 minutes later. The sign still said closed so I poked my head in and a woman up on a ladder said they were closed for "cleaning." This apparently needed to be done during regular business hours with no notice on the website. Really, they couldn't even bother erasing the chalkboard? Waste of time and bad attitude. Won't bother going back.
