I ate at SD26 with three other family members in early July, 2013. I had eaten at the very posh and old-school San Dominico when it was up on the Upper West Side. That was a very formal and elegant restaurant. This restaurant is apparently a successor to that fine establishment, owned and operated by the same family. This is a much more relaxed and casual but still quite sophisticated dining experience. Our service was wonderfully efficient and solicitous almost but not quite to the point of hovering. Everyone was very nice. The food was exceptional, well prepared and well presented. There were some old-school Italian specialties but also so some modernized versions of Italian cooking. The restaurant is very sleek and hip. Good wine list. The price, for the neighborhood and for the quality of food and service was actually quite reasonable. We will be back.
